Narutaru\'s main character is Tamai Shiina, a cheerful, optimistic, 6th grader. During a visit to her grandparents, Tamai meets and becomes friends with a flying, round-star shaped kind of creature, which she names Hoshimaru - meaning round star. Hoshimaru has the ability to grant Shiina\'s sub-conscious wishes, good or bad. Whatever she feels, happens. Soon after, Shiina finds out that other girls and boys have met and befriended creatures similar to Hoshimaru.
