Reviews for Kareshi Kanojo No Jijou (Perfect Collection)

The actual animation seems a little flushed. Like, there's not as much deep color as with msot Anime. But, from hwat they gave me, I loved every second of it. Nothing to complain about.

Audio:

Clear and crisp. the voices were SOOOOOOO good. I think this is quite possibly the best dubbing I've ever watched. (and I've seen a TON)

Subtitle:

The subs were the only thing I gripe about. The majority of the show is told threw manga drawings and kanji onthe sides. While they tell you basically what it means in the dialouge, but it's nice to know what it actualy says. (Also, sometimes it says extra information that isn't spoken). But, the subtitles that explain what is said are too light a color to be seen, as many scenes have white backgrounds. I mean, you don't miss much, but it's be nice of you could read what they say.

Comment:

This is possibly my favorite animes. I seriously couldn't stop laughing. Everything episode was packed with hilarity that never seems to grow old. I found myself chuckling days afterward, whenever I thought about it. Also, it is so sweet. The relationship between Arima and 'Sis' is so adorabloe. It really seems like a real BF/GF relationship. I mean, they fight a little and do things that I realize I do with my GF. If you want to watch a hilarious, sweet, lovely anime that made even my anit-anime mother laugh (seriously!) get this! UBER HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I didn't notice any problems with the video here. If there were any problems it's not noticiable unless you search for it. I didn't see one problem at all throughout the entire series. No freezing, blocking, nothing! Perfect. This is how all HK's should be made. Great job FX!

Audio:

Once again I didn't notice any problems. Nothing was out of sync, the english track was at a good volume, and everything just clicked together. No problems here either.

Subtitle:

A 4.0 to a 4.5. I'm in a good mood, i'll lean towards the extra .5. But why? As stated below, there is A LOT of on-screen text (many of which can be hilarious, so you do not want to miss reading them). However, usually it's a white background and on that background is black japanese text and when you set the on-screen text, this bright yellow text appears to translate it. Yellow on White? Bad combo! Luckily, the text stays up long enough for you to read it -- just squint your eyes ;)

Comment:

This was a very engaging show and I was tempted not to review this series, why? I became so engrossed with this show I didn't notice ANY audio or video problems! I could have missed a block that appeared on Arimas shirt or a slight-out-of-sync moment! This show was THAT good, that I was like lifted to another world that I didn't notice any problems at all. Anyways, GREAT show, GREAT release, and thank you FX for releasing a quality release for an outstanding show! The packaging was the worst part. It was very poor -- as in the quality of the "print". The pictures/art on the gatefold seemed a little washed out and faded. Too bad =/ But who cares? Everything else is great, and you can't judge a book by it's cover. With a boatfull of extras, plenty of chapters to surf through for each episode, and all kinds of subtitle options I can't reccomend this set enough for you! This show was the only anime series that actually had to have me push the "pause" button to recover from one of the hundreds of GREAT jokes. (That Uno game was a classic). I enjoyed this series all the way! A+ (and thank you FX for a great release)

Great video. Didn't notice anything wrong

Audio:

Nothing wrong with the english or japanese track. It was really annoying watching it in english though.

Subtitle:

These were the R1 english rips but only prob were the yellow subtitles on white background. Sometimes you can't read it because of the contrasting colors and then for the last second it's there on the screen, it'll become clear. So you have like a second to read it. Other than that, the subtitles I would have considered perfect.

Comment:

Great series. So funny. Definately recommended for those who like romantic comedy.

Video was great. Not noticable in the animation, but when you see real life pictures from the ending credits etc, it shows how blurred it really is. But luckily for the anime, it doesn't matter as you can't notice it

Audio:

Audio was very good. Only tiny quibble. I found the menu music quite loud compared to the actual audio volume in the eps. The music for this title is amazing. The english dub was good, but I don't like dubs.

Subtitle:

Lets the side down. Generally excellent, though this title shows a lot of japanese writing and doesn't bother to translate. It gets worst, as nearly all of the last episode is told through writing, and they don't translate it! Quite annoying, but overall very nice

Comment:

A very very nice title. I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this. The series is very promising. All episodes up to episode 13 are 10/10. However the second half breaks down a little. Some of the episodes are top notch, but a few of them are flashback episodes. The last episode leaves a lot to be desired, especially as the writing isn't translated. CONCLUSION. I really love this title. It is in my top five. The music is good as well. GO BUY IT!

The video was great, i cant tell if it is R1 or R2. There are no english dub credits on the ending but i am just not sure. There were a few flickers here and there but nothing too distracting.

Audio:

Audio was great, nothing too fancy, no glitches or changes in volume. I liked the music of this series so i guess that helped.

Subtitle:

Subtitles were flawless expect for a two minor details. One, the subs were just about a second late during the whole series. Like when some writing was on the screen and it was subbed, the subs would hang over into the next scene which was a little annoying. The second thing was that when there were a lot of subs on the screen, the main subs at the bottom would turn to an impossible to read bold font.

Comment:

I liked this series, although i was forced to watch it dubbed because there was far too much stuff going on even without having to read spoken subs. Overall i liked the series but it isn't one of my favorites and it persuaded me to read the manga which is much better. I laughed, i cried, i got pissed off.

R1 rips but I kept on seeing lines while watching it on my DVD player. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be there or not but it annoyed me... No blockiness or anything other then that.

Audio:

Perfect to my ears and probably will be or yours, too. I doubt anyone could tell the difference between this and the R1 DVDs...

Subtitle:

English is perfect but there are a few parts that'll annoy you if you've watching massive amounts of fansubs. You'll pray for the American companies to type out Japanese honorifics if you had to see "Miss Miyazawa" throughout the whole show and some Japanese words that were on screen should have been translated. In my eyes, though, perfect grammar and spelling.

Comment:

Great show, great characters, bad ending...? Well it ends on a cliffhanger (sort of) and leaves you wanting more but that can be cured by the manga so you might as well buy/download it.

R1/R2 rip. No Blockiness. The colors are sharp. Really, there isn't much to say when it's R1/R2 Rip.

Audio:

Once again the R1/R2 argument. -One little error, but I don't know if its from the r1, but in episode 2 there are some lines that you do not listen to (Japanese track), only the subtitles or english dub.

Subtitle:

R1 rip. Its sharp, and teh timing is right, considering that this serie is quite fast paced. There are several options: Dialogues only, Things that appear on teh creen only, Both at the same time English, Chinese and Spanish

Comment:

Great series, a very mature series regarding the aproach, comparing to other series on the highschool ground. The charaters are realistic, the drawings are well made, when its apropriate it becomes very exagerated and big (very funny). I wont go into the story, look into other reviews. The packaging is great, a digipack with a plastic protection. --- I recommend this to those who are tired of seeing anime where later teens act childish concernin relations. This anime is different and brings something fresh to a tired genre (romantic comedy that is).

Very good considering its a rather old anime! Looks like a R1 or R2 rip Played fine with no Pixelation even on my worst player (ie PS2)

Audio:

Top Notch both Jap and English! looks like A Dolby 2 but definately not 5.1

Subtitle:

R1 or R2 Rip nothing wrong here though at times can be to fast!

Comment:

This series has to be up there with the greats... its hillarious but the ending does leave you a bit empty but thats the GAINAX way i guess! Definately recomended and actually quite original at times for the "school genre"

Good, but not great. Pixelation is there, but it's never terrible. Also, the video has a certain quality to it, one I can't describe, but it overall it was fine. However, I'm not excessively picky about that stuff, so videophiles should take my words with a grain of salt.

Audio:

Sounded perfectly good to me. I'm not one of those audio fanatics at all, so if there's sound and it's clear, I'm satisfied.

Subtitle:

The translations themselves are perfect. However, as someone mentioned before, the text will sometimes go from yellow with black outlines to bold yellow without outlines. This happens occasionally and made things difficult to read (but I still managed to read them). There were also several instances where subs disappeared too quickly for me to read.

Comment:

Good set, GREAT series. Just going by the description I didn't think I'd like it much, but so many people recommended it to me. I'm glad I picked it up.

May be a rip of the R1, but still had a little pixelization at times. ot much though

Audio:

Audio was spot on(japanese dub). I checked the english dub at times to see if they changed some of the dialouge, but everything seemed fine

Subtitle:

Subtitles were great, Selecting the 3rd track will give you all the captions as well. Sometimes when there are alot of captions on screen the subtitles will appear all yellow(without black outlines) making it difficult to read. Other than that they were fine

Comment:

Series was pretty good. Some people were not satisfied with the ending, oh well.

Perfect, same as R1!!

Both tracks are perfect!!!

Subtitle:

A LOT of subs, if you want everything subtitled you have to activate 3 subtitles, 1 for language, the other 2 for titles appearing in scenes, expressions, etc

Comment:

I can't believe Gainax made this, who would have thought the makers of Evangelion ACTUALLY have sence of humor!?!?!. Its a very funny series with great characters and decent story. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND THIS IS A GIGANTIC BUT.... PLEASE REMEMBER GAINAX MADE, SO THAT MEANS............................... PAPAPARRRAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SH*TTY ASS ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! ENDS IN NOTHING, QUESTIONS WITHOUT ANSWER, RELATIONSHIPS THAT MAY HAPPEN IS LEFT UP IN THE CLOUDS!! Theres also the sicological art, Evangelion type. Characters past, saying the dont mean sh*t, complaining, BLAH BLAH BLAH............................YADA YADA! I liked it anyway!! The series is good when it comes to comedy and having a good time. Your typical romantic school kids comedy, but much funnier in my view!!. I did owned the R1's but the ending didn't cut it so I sold it away and got this release that is EXACTLY like the R1 with less special features, obviously!!. Still if you dont mind a VERY BAD ending get this set, you will be laughing from start to end, well episode 25 cause the 26 sucked!!

Nice little series although the ending can kinda suck but overall it's at least good to watch once. Reminds me a bit of Ai Yori Aoshi. The only things that let me down about the series is that when the characters aren't serious their design change but it happens a lot. Also in some episodes you'd wonder if it was just drawn black on white. This is a Funny set to watch a bit of romance, the relationship goes through different things which brings them closer together. Although I did expect much more. Ai Yori Aoshi is a way better set.

Video looks good haven't noticed any data artifacting as of yet. Definite R1 Rip.

Audio:

Audio Sounded good thus far. Only listed to japanese language though so can't say anything about english dub.

Subtitle:

Subtitles are presented yellow with black outline. Has 6 Channels of subtitles 3 english 3 spanish. The three different options for each is signs/kanji only. Audio translation only, or both. Can't comment about Spanish at all. Be prepared to read alot if you have both the kanji translations and the audio subtitles on because there is alot of kanji/fast talking happening throughout the episodes. Subtitle Errors ------------------ Throughtout episodes sometimes switches to bold subtitles for a few seconds before turning to normal. Episode 3 Arima is misspelled as Arira once.

Comment:

Another good release (Just love when Gainax stuff is released. ) Extras are Kare Kano Staff Inteviews on First Disk !Finished through Disc 1 will update again after disc 2!
