The video on this set is great. I saw no pixalation. The only problem was that it froze about twice very shortly, and then resumed. Nothing to bother you with.
Audio:
No problems. A very good dub.

Comment:
I really enjoyed this set. I mean, at some points it didn't make much sense, but that is sort of what was so cool about it. This series boasts some of the best music anime has to offer. I would definately recommend this set. It is short, but you will love it. 13 episodes would have been better, though.

Furi Kuri has amazing video quality for being a singular DVD encasing all 6 episodes. Colors and sharp and vibrant, art is amazingly clear. The only drawback I saw was the amount of pixelization in the series. Almost every episode has a high action scene, which displayed the pixelization. However, it's not too bad and definitely doesn't effect the viewing experience.
Audio:
The audio is just excellent all around. Both Japanese and English tracks are clear as crystal. I say this rarely about many anime series, but watching this anime is just as enjoyable in English as it is in Japanese. Really. Volume wise, the English is slightly higher than the Japanese track but theres no volume change necessary. The only time I had to change the volume was when it changed from the menu to the episodes. The episodes are higher in volume than the menu music. Overall, amazing audio tracks.

Sidenotes: + Theres an error in the English dub in Episode 2. While the Japanese track is fine, there is a scene where Mamimi is talking to Naota (Takkun) and in the sub she says, "Do you remember the fire? You wouldn't remember it huh? You were still little, Takkun." At that point, the English voiceover is totally mute, except for the sound effects in the background. + The anime (in English dub at least) does a good job of including a lot of American pop culture references (crystal pepsi, american rock bands and movie parodies/spoofs to name a few). The subs are more Japanese based and just do the job of translating the Japanese track. Overall Opinion: ...FLCL was quite an interesting series for me to watch. Although I thoroughly enjoyed it, I found myself rewinding back a few scenes just to understand this extremely fast paced and random storyline. But while doing this, I also found myself rewinding just to rewatch some of the funniest scenes I've seen in anime to date. I guess I'm trying to say, FLCL is a series you don't need to thoroughly understand to enjoy. With minor cussing and crude humor, FLCL is meant for almost all audiences, particularly teens and older. Buy it, watch it, enjoy it. =)

My only complaint is the story is only 6 episodes. It does not have the time to really develope the characters like you really would like to find out. Very worth while to pick up. A+

Flawless. Not surprising considering they only had to fit 6 episodes on one DVD, rather than the usual 8 or nine you see on FX releases for complete TV series. Every wonderful, colorful, vibrant frame of FLCL shows up as perfectly as possible without FX having released it onto more than one disc, as with the source.
Audio:
See above. FLCL has one of the best anime soundtracks I have ever heard... and it sounds perfect on this release for the same reason as the video is so great. Also, the english and japanese voice tracks both sound tremendous.

Bizarre, eccentric, colorful, wonderful... FLCL blew my mind... and then blew it again, and again, and again every time I watched it there-after. FX pulled off a perfect release here. You're not going to find a better place to spend your money, than on this DVD, if you don't already have it in your collection.

Very Crisp and vibrant colors. The video quality is excellent, but not completely perfect. Unlike many of the other reviewers, I noticed pixelation in high action sequences and there were a few moments when the image was slightly blurry. It was not a significant hinderance, but it is something that you should know about the DVD.
Audio:
The english dub track is surprisingly good, as is the original japanese track. Not really 5.1, but it is good enough.

I had to take a double look. I thought I popped in the R1 set they had at the rental store. This is absolutely perfect. The crazy animation, fast paced action scenes, awesome manga parodies, and incredible detail all show up in this absolutely perfect copy of the R1 set.
Audio:
What can you say about FLCL? In either dub or sub you will get an experience of a life time. And the audio tracks in this DVD are perfect. No problems at all.

Wow. That's all you really can say. It's like you are watching the R1 set. Except for the fact you pay $7 for a DVD with the entire 6 episodes on it instead of $90 for 3 DVDs that have only 2 episodes on each. If that doesn't make an alarm in your head go off saying "rip off" then you need medical treatment. Seriously.

All the menu's were really good, and simple. Only thing I didn't like was the bland DVD cover (black and white), same for the disc art. But for $7 I can't really complain that, well worth it. I noticed a few comments about FLCL being completely insane, which is right, but if you watch it with the directors comments track with the subs (link for them mentioned in another review), it makes alot more sense. Certainly helped me enjoy this great anime even more. :)

Some of the best video qualities I have seen in quite a while ! Not a single hint of grain or fuzziness ! Candy for the eyes...
Audio:
Oh my God !!! The audio is sooo fricken awesome, it isn't funny ! Definently worth playing it on a surround sound system if you have one. Both the Japanese and English dub sound great in terms of quality. The English acting is great, but there's some questionable acting involved. Sometimes it would sound like the actors aren't even trying. The English acting is not bad, as a matter of fact, its gracefully dubbed, but like the average Otaku, I perfer the Japanese dialogue with subtitles. Oh and I forgot to mention...the Japanese rock music by "The Pillows" sounds so awesome, especially on audio this good ! :applause: Note: The third language option is still Japanese, but contains actor/director commentary !

This series is just bursting with randomness ! FLCL is just straight up a humorous and comedic series that should be viewed by anyone who just enjoys a good laugh. With awesome Japanese rock music, slapstick comedy, a strange cast of characters, random parodies, grossness, and occassional romance, FLCL is a series that should not be ignored, and this DVD proves it ! This DVD is just plain awesome ! If you don't have it, get it NOW !!!

For the show itself, I didn't like it. I wish I hadn't bought it. Plot was kind of interesting because it was so weird but wasn't that great. Ending was really disappointing because I heard great reviews about the show & plot being awesome but it wasn't anything mind boggling or worth thinking about. Great songs in the show. Would recommend as something to watch if you wanna see quirky anime with no specific meaning.

Great quality all around. I would recommend watching an episode before purchasing just to make sure it's something you'd be interested in. This has to be one of the strangest series I have ever seen. I'll probably have to watch it again to understand everything completely.

Fooly Cooly is another anime offering from GAINAX, (Evangelion, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, and Dead Leaves) the studio known for being unique. Fooly Cooly is ation packed and very funny and it's only downside is that it's to short (6 episodes), but at only $7 (rather than 60) it's like there giving it away.

FLCL is one of the prime examples of R1's Gone Wild. At 3 discs of only 2 episodes each, the R1's are a horrible, horrible value. How can you complain about all 6 episodes neatly tucked into a single DVD with near-R1 quality and sold for only $7-$8? You can't. And that's why this DVD is one of the best HK's ever.

The video in general was excellent, sharp and with vibrant colours. I did notice some jaggy lines when watching it on my TV There was pixelation in episode 2. Using DVD bitrate Viewer I found that the average video bitrate of the DVD was 6.5 mb/s and it peaks at around 9.2 mb/s but for some reason during the 33 to 45 minute mark the video bitrate only reaches up to 5 mb/s and there was alot of high motion scenes during that span. Also in episode 3 some scenes were very blurry, sometimes the picture would be nice and sharp and then it would suddenly appear blurry. This only happened for this episode. No playback problems except in my stanalone player (Panasonic RV-32) there was a pause during the layer change.
Audio:
3 audio tracks, all 2.0 DD stereo. English, Japanese and directors commentary. I listened mostly to the english audio track but listened in to the japanese audio track occasionally, no problems noticed for both.

No extras which was disapointing as even the old MI set had some. I'm really disapointed they didnt include the subtitles for the directors commentary, the commentary is really cool and adds lots of insight and little facts and tidbits about the show that could have been missed out. By not including the subtitles it makes the commentary completely useless to those that do not understand japanese. They might as well not include it and use the extra space for the video or the inclusion of extras.

Another weird, fu**ed up anime from Gainax. If you don't know who Gainax is then in what planet are you in!!. Its from the people who brought us Evangelion, His/Hers Circumstances and some other neat series. Saying that must raise some eyebrows so dont expect this anime to be understanding, or better yet, have any sence or meaning at all!!!. Dont get me wrong I think Gainax is one of the most unique anime developers out there. Now expect the same here. This little 6 episode series is indeed unique like I mentioned but at the ending it dissapoints and theres just so many sh*t going on that you have to keep your eyes on the subs at every time ( pausing is a key factor ) if your watching it in japanese. For instance, at episode 1 theres like a manga scene where theres so many fast dialog and stupid questions and let me mention the lack of sence that some people will start scratching their heads with disbelief. The story is like nothing else you have seen, thats as much props I give to this anime and Gainax for their great creativity. This anime is not for anyone, people looking for the next Gainax hit this is definetly it but like every other Gainax proyect it ends dull, like His and Her Circumstances which ended in nothing ( god I hate that!!!!!!!! ). People that have little tolerance and dont like weird storylines that confuses them should skip it. I recommended it to a friend of mine and the guy was so pissed off at me he literaly broked the disc with my head including the case and all so its a little warning to the nice Anime lovers out there, YOUR NOT BUYING SOMETHING NORMAL!!!!!!!! Last words of wisdom: GAINAX IS FUC*ED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The video quality is great, but you'll notice some softness in certain scenes. I really didn't notice any pixilation, but there was one instance, in the last episode, where I noticed a skip in the video for less than a second (might just be my copy). I wasn't distracted by it. Otherwise, the video was very crisp with vibrant colors and clear picture.
Audio:
I watched the English dub the whole way through and could not find any distortion. The sound is clear the whole way through. I listened to the Japanese track for episodes 1, 3 and 5 and found no apparent distortions (no hisses, pops or pauses). There is one more track, which is the commentary track. I listened through the first episode and found it also clear, although I would have enjoyed it more if they turned down the original video soundtrack because it's easy to get distracted by the show while the directors are talking. *Note: There are no subs for the commentary track, so if you can't understand Japanese, they're useless to you.

The menu's are great. I haven't seen the R1's before (I will try and snag one to compare this set to the official release). The scene selection section is also well done, I'm not sure if these were made by the rippers or if they were actually ripped from the R1's, but they are very nice looking. Overall, FLCL is a great series which I usually compare to Family Guy when describing it to my friends. It has many cultural and Japanese pop culture references and mixes it with weird and wacky, almost non-sensical humor that will leave you falling to the floor with laughter (or confused). It's definitely worth the money (even if you choose to get the overpriced R1's). The set is something you will want to (and have to) watch over several times.

there are just a couple of spots where there's a little bit of pixelation but it's really not bad. other than that it's great.
Audio:
there are three audio tracks to choose from. English, Japanese, or japanese with Japanese commentary (for anyone that understands Japanese) and all of them sound great.

Comment:
one of the most entertaining animes I've seen in a while and this particular rip takes nothing away from the series. I'd recommend it to jsut about anyone who watches anime regularly.

This dvd has really good picture quality. There are two-three spots of pixelation but let's be honest, almost every hk dvd has a few. The pixelation didn't last long but the quality was great on my flat screen.

The only reason i marked it down was because only dolby digtial 5.1 or dts 5.1 get a five. There are three tracks on the episode. A english dubbed track, a japanese track, and a commentary that plays the japanese track softly with japanese or possibly chinese commentary playing over that.

There are no extras. The quality of the show is very good but the show is weird, unique, but also very good. It has some very funny scenes to it. I also like the boxart, it just looks cool. I would recommend this show to anyone. Another plus to this is the price, it is worth at least one look. Look for the guy with the eyebrows.

Holy crap this is the finest transfer ever seen. The colors are perfect and vibrant. I can't see any hint of blocks or anything wrong this is the best transfer I have ever seen even for regular releases.
Audio:
I have been watching the show in dub and it's pretty good. I think the main kid is shinji's voice. The sound is perfect though.
