Even for a series from 1976, the color is quite faded. However, the background drawing is very well done. You can see the exact details of every nook and cranny of cities painstalkingly drawn.
Audio:
Dull sound and some noise. Plenty good enough for old series like this. Has jap and Man dub. I just checked the mandarin dub, and it seems to be slightly clearer.

Comment:
Great subtitles, which automatically makes this a good buy. Second from World Masterpiece Theater series. Directed by Takahata and scenes designed by Miyazaki before they founded Studio Ghibli. A must-see for fans of those two. More appropriate translation of the title is "3000 leagues in search of mother". This is a very emotionally charged series. If you're in mood for realistic heart-felt drama of human triumph overcoming some hardship along with some great character development, this one is for you.
