The video quality of this series was excellent. Amazingly, there weren't any pixellation, blurriness or distorted lines. The colors were sharp and vivid, characters and scenes were drawn with exquisite detail. The graphics may show some age, but that's to be expected since this was a show from 1992-1993.
Audio:
Excellent job from FX on the audio. The Japanese Audio was crystal clear, but the English audio was a bit too soft.

This is one amazing anime. I haven't seen this for so many years, and still, seeing it again is just as good as the first time. This is a hilarious romantical/harem-like(lots of girls falling and serving one guy) comedy. I was laughing during the whole entire series because it was just that funny! This is an anime that you just can't miss, with its creative, unique and pervertedly ridiculous storyline, you'll definitely fall in love with Tenchi... if not, for the cute girls at least. For those of you who are frustrated with watching which series first, start watching the OVA, it was the first series that came out and started the Tenchi Muyo Hype across Japan and the States. The sequel of this OVA is Tenchi Muyo: Daughter of Darkness AKA Midsummer's Eve (1993)and the continuation episode of the OVA another final 3 episodes (these 3 episodes had just came out in 2003 in Japan). The rest are just Spinoffs and Alternate retelling of the story.

One word PURDY! This is without a doubt the best HK video quality i have ever seen. I showed this set to a friend of mine who has the offical set and he literaly saw no difference. No macroblocking, no pixelation, nothing but pure unadulterated goodness. This is the kind of job FX needs to keep doing. They ripped this set but good.
Audio:
Man this set sounds just as good as it looks. All the audio is crisp and clean in both English and Japanese. One of the tracks is also amazing 5.1, but i cant remember which one. Either way this set sounds good in both languages.

If your a fan of Tenchi and have somehow not seen the show that started it all, then get your 14 bucks together and buy this show right now, stop reading this review and buy it now, from this site, from another, it doesnt matter, just get the thing. This is Tenchi at its best. This show has it all. Action, Comedy, Drama, and Romance. What more can you ask for, Nudity you say, yeah theres a bit of that too. This is the defenitive heram show done right. Its smart and funny and never feels trite or frivilos. This set is the best way to go if you want to see this show. The R1 is ridicously priced, so just save you money to buy Tench universe and the Tenchi Moive Collection too. Im sure youll be hunting down all the Tenchi you can after you see this OVA. Its a all time great anime!

Pretty good for the most part. I remember seeing a spec of macroblocking at one point, probably on Disc 2. Other than that, the video was always great. DVD notch quality here.
Audio:
Audio on the Japanese track was perfect. I didn't hear a glitch or bleep. I tested the english track out a bit too and it seemed fine.

It urks me that there are no chapter breaks for the opening and ending of each episode. Not even a chapter break is apparent for midway through an episode. I also had a flaw on my second disc where it would freeze on a certain episode and the whole disc was very noisy when playing in my DVD player. I then watched that episode on my laptop and while it was still very noisy it played through it. All in all it is worth the money for this nice packaged set.

No flaws at all except that one time I saw some pixelation. ONE TIME. That's nothing to cry about so it was 99.999~% perfect. Okay? Yeah, you better agree. This isn't the edited version you might have seen on Cartoon Network. It's pure unadulterated fun~
Audio:
[NOTE: I always only watched the Japanese audio/English subtitles] There was one scene the voices didn't match the moving lips but that's it.

Bad with the chapter breaks. You couldn't skip through the opening themes, ending themes, or previews without having to manually fast forward and there were only 1 chapter break for each episode. One chapter break broke you off a little ahead of the episode but that's okay. Great anime and there are more Tenchi Muyo! OVAs coming out right now. Pick up the fansubs of the 14th and 15th episode and wait patiently for the others (bi-monthly or something to that extent).

Excellent video throughout the show. I do not recall any defects watching on a HDTV.
Audio:
Nothing wrong on my 650W setup. I think Japanese audio is a little lower, as always.

You know the show. No extras, just straight episodes, 7 and 6 on each disc. One episode's chapter took me to the wrong spot though. no biggie. both discs have trouble playing on my ps2 (it skips ahead a couple seconds on several occasion, the video is there, but just skipped. ps2's not a real dvd player anyway). disc 1 won't play on my dvdrom either, but disc 2 does.. when i put in disc 1, it keeps on spinning and the dvdrom sounds like it's going to die. but they worked on my apex. i hope this isn't the case with new fx discs.

Excellend video. A very good R1 rip. There is only 1 point that the rip had a error (on disk 2), where it showed some very strange macroblocks, but this lasted only 1 sec... but it was a very noticable error non-de-way.
Audio:
Eng & Jap audio. I had no error's or noticed nothering strange on the Jap Audio. I havent tested the Eng dub...
