Reviews for Street Fighter II the Movie
Video:
Audio:
Subtitles:

Overall:

Video:

This is a super clean copy. This is my third time watching this movie (even though I really don't like it that much) and I enjoyed it the best here.

Audio:

This audio is Japanese ONLY! Don't be fooled by the box. There are no English dubs on this copy. The audio is top notch though. A pleasure to listen to.

Subtitle:

These are almost the worst subs I've seen... almost. The names are all wrong (except for Ken) - Ryu is called Luang, Bison is called Bayson, Guile is called Gayle, and on and on. The timing is erratic. Most of the movie is pretty well timed but there are instances of words appearing well before or well after someone has said them. There are also a lot of lines that get dropped so you don't get to see them subtitled at all. Finally, the actual translations leave a lot to be desired. Even if you ignore the occasional spelling mistake, the actual sentance structure will frequently make no sense. The only reason I didn't give this a 1 star is because it's still better than that one version of Noir I first saw.

Comment:

This is a rip of the AS release. It even opens with the AS logo at the beginning of the video. As bad as the subtitles are, it doesn't matter too much because there isn't much to the story other than fight scene after fight scene. It is nice getting to see the whole thing un-cut (including the shower scene) as opposed to the version with the English dubs. If you're a fan of the Street Fighter games and want to see all the main characters doing all their custom moves in a movie, then this is for you. I recommend this version over the others just because the extra footage outweighs the lousy subtitles.
