Overall:

Video:

Very good video for a show that's 30 yrs old. some graininess here and there but really distracting. I was watching this on a 60" so You can notice these flaws more.

Audio:

Some static in the backround most noticeable when any music is playing, but the voice audio is crisp and clear.

Subtitle:

Since this show is aimed at a younger audience the spoken lines are usually short and simple. You should have no problem understanding them. Unfortunately that's not the main problem. On the first 3 discs and part of the last disc, the subs are on the screen far too short of a time. Rough guessing that a short sentence might only be diplayed for less than a sec. A longer sentence of 6-10 words is on for 2-3 secs and if you are looking away at the wrong moment you'll miss a line.

Comment:

Based on a classic childrens book, I wasn't sure what to expect from this show. I thought it was going to be all about the adventures of a boy and his dog (kinda like "Old Yeller") but not quite. It turned out that I really liked this show. This was made back in the day when a lot of anime childrens shows weren't dumbed down and made just for marketing a card game, video game, or action figures.
