In Oni, Miaka and Tamahome are finally able to start living their lives together. However, one day Tamahome suddenly disappears in a burst of intense red light. Related to his disappearance is the theft of that mysterious and ancient book, The Universe of the Four Gods. Again, Miaka assumes the duties of the Priestess of Suzaku and once more she must gather the Suzaku Seven to aid her. But this new lurking evil has its sights set on a far great prize than the land of Konan. As Eikoden begins, we discover that The Universe of the Four Gods has been closed and Miaka and Taka are now married. Yet this happy union doesn?t have the blessing of schoolgirl Sakaki Mayo. She is infatuated with Taka, who is her basketball coach, and loathes Miaka. Sakaki puts her hatred to good use when The Universe of the Four Gods comes into her possession. She arrives to discover that the world is heading towards destruction. Someone or something didn?t want the happy ending that Miaka and the Suzaku Seven fought for. The story is forced to continue?
