The video is pretty poor since it's ripped from the R1 releases. I can only assume they could only get poor quality masters since MI's laserdisc rips are far superior to this. The colours are over-emphasized and the whole image has a red tint to it, and many dark scenes seem to have been made lighter. None of this is the fault of the HK set though.
Audio:
As previously pointed out, the last few episodes on disk 2 suffer from sound de-synchronisation. It's very distracting and spoils the enjoyment of those episodes. Overall sound quality is good however with no noticeable problems.

Comment:
The R1 disks are far from the definitive Eva set with their poorly mastered video and lack of director's cut episodes, so this HK set by FX was hardly going to be any better. And with it's sound sync problems, the only things I could recommend this on over other HK sets would be the subs and the fact that both movies are included. I'll be reviewing FX's re-release of this set as soon as I get it.

Looks great, it's ripped from the R1 releases. The R1 aren't that great ...but if you take take that in consideration looks pretty good (compared to the R1s ... that i repeat are far from perfect, take that into consideration...so don't expect a flawless and completely wonderful Video Image). It's not a huge improvement over the MI version , just a slight since it's DVD ripped and the Mi was LD ripped...The colours are a little Brighter though, since ADV "played" and "screwed" it So the Colours Look Weirder, although the image looks more clear , with better definition and more Stable.
Audio:
Sounds Good, includes the Japanese and Audio Tracks Unfortunattely the last 3 episodes of DVD 2 (eps. 15-17) , the Japanese Audio track is Half a second ahead of the Video and it's specially noticeable in dialogues. It's not terrible by any means, but it's annoying...could have been and should have perfect, so that subtracts a point from the score ... Also notice that the Movies only includes the DD stereo tracks, and not the 6.1 or 5.1 of the R1 release, so that also subtracts a point from the score

Extras : Characther Bios, Some Trailers and the Death and Rebirth Movie includes "The Magi Files" ( Text Documents , explaing some aspects about the Series) Since this is r1 ripped , doesn't include the Director's cut of episodes 21-24

THe Tweaked R1 Video with that red tint. The video itself looks a bit fuzzy. I'm not sure how to explain beyond saying that it seems both the R1s weren't encoded that well (from bad sources) and this DVD just compounded on it. The movies suffered from Macroblocking. Especially the scene where the Magis are being hacked.

Personally, I liked my MI set more. I traded this away because it had inferior video, and I didn't need two versions of Eva :p

Great video. If there was pixelation it wasn't very detectable because i didn't see any.

Standard Pro-logic. No problems what-so-ever.

Not very many extras. Just bios of cast and machines. The movie is very good and had no sync problems unlike other hk evangelion dvd movies. The movie does has some extras like manga previews and evangelion trailers. Great set, worth the money. (like almost all fx sets)
