Sooooo pretty. As I've come to expect from FX, the video in this set is practically flawless. The episode split for the first season of Mahoromatic is 8-4, however, so the second DVD obviously has a noticeable improvement in video quality over the first... however, the first is nothing to scoff at. Very few pixelation problems, none of which are overly noticeable, even during the high-action fight scenes.
Audio:
English voice track, japanese voice track, music, and even loud explosions are all perfect. Gainax shows seem to have the most amazingly matched up English VA work, all the time. Abenobashi still holds the title of "my most favoritest english dub", but Mahoromatic is right up there with a very solid effort.

While Mahoromatic doesn't rank anywhere near FLCL or Abenobashi for me, it was still a fun show to watch. There is definitely an over-abundance of T & A... especially the T part, and more boobie jokes than you can shake... well... a pair of boobies at. It's all in good fun, though, and the series comes across as funny, playful, and harmless entertainment.

Very nice rip. Once again, FX has made itself a name to be recognized in the field of DVD ripping at it's finest. Minimal pixelization (the scene Mahoro dodges all the androids in the opening sequence blurs from all the jumping action), great clear picture and amazing drawings make this anime set awesome in video quality.
Audio:
Everything was perfect. I listened to Japanese dubs and the sync, volume and sound fx were perfect. English dubs matched exactly with the volume of the Japanese ones, and since they are R1 rips, the quality was superb. Perfect 5! ^^

Sidenotes: * The first disk is a combo of the first two R1 Mahoromatic releases, and the second is a direct rip of the 3rd. In the first disk, you encounter a screen with two options: [1-4] and [5-8]. Take note, that once you select it, you can't go back unless you restart the DVD player. In the second disk, literally everything from the 3rd R1 DVD is on there (FBI warnings, Pioneer labels, etc.) so that's pretty awesome. ^^ * Theres different versions of this set going around. The 1st version is a folded 2 DVD box set, such as many of the FX, MAC, and AC sets you see. The 2nd newer version is a semiclear DVD case, with 2 DVD holders inside instead of one. It has the same boxart and front/back covers as the folded set, but the folded set has a flap including an episode list of the 1st season. The newer DVD case doesn't have it, but I prefer it over the standard folded cases. I think FX may possibly use this new method as a standard for future anime series to come (but don't take my word for it =P). * Mahoromatic is an awesome series...not one you'd show to younger audiences, but a great one nonetheless. For such a cutsy looking anime, theres an insane amount of nudity and fan service, mild violence, and conversations/thoughts of adult nature. =P Even still, Mahoromatic the First Season delivers an innocense and an attraction that'll make you fall in love with it. Do yourself a favor, and buy this series. ^^

Same quality as the US dubbed releases! No pixelation, no fuzzy stuff, no black bar/blob on the top of the screen, no grains, no nothing! The picture quality on this set is flawless.
Audio:
Audio quality is excellent! Both the English and Japanese dialogue sound great in terms of quality. However, I still find the English voices very annoying. But other than that, nothing wrong over here. Perfectly done audio!

Mahoromatic is a delightful series that definently delivers the goods! It has a great mix of romance, comedy, and action. Not to mention, all the "lewdness" and dirty stuff. I personally think that this series is cute, charming, and may I say it again...delightful! But I would only reccomend it to those who won't be offended by the nudity and dirty scenes found in some or most episodes. I think FX did an amazingly beautiful job on most of their DVDs. This is one of them! I felt very proud of myself when I bought it, and after viewing it and discovering that this DVD set is flawless, I was VERY happy and I still am! Definently worth spending your money on. Good job FX...keep it up! :) Note: The extras don't work on the first disc...instead it automatically plays the show. But you can access them on the 2nd disc.

Fantastic video quality. I noticed NO pixelation, grain nor any other video flunders. Evident R1 Rip and a great transfer at that. The colors and animation in Mahoromatic are amazing. Lighting effects, glistening water on plants, etc. are here and they are looking great. Fx did a great job with this set and it truly lives up to its name as a perfect collection.

Nothing to complain about quality wise. I listened to both tracks. I prefer Japanese on Mahoromatic dub. The English is alright, but the only reason I don't really like it is because of this: I just finished Love Hina when I started watching this in English dub and Suguru (Mahoromatic) is done by the same voice actor who does Keitaro (Love Hina). Before seeing Mahoromatic I saw a picture of Suguru and thought he looked similar to Keitaro and then to find he had the same voice drove me crazy! There's only so much of Keitaro's voice I could stand especially on a character that looks like him (I prefer Suguru because he isn't such a loser). On a side note Shijiko-sensei (in English) is played by Wendee Lee who plays Faye from Cowboy Bebop (in English). So having Keitaro's voice and Faye's voice in the same anime was a little wierd. So if watch it I'd stick with Japanese dub because...

Mahoromatic is the heart warming tale of a combat android turn house-keeping maid. As funny as that may sound that's how it is, funny! It has a good mix of comedy, action and a little bit of romance. If I would describe Mahoromatic I would call it a cross between FLCL and Love Hina. Those anime's are among my favorites so Mahoromatic holds a high place. If you get nothing from my review know this about this set: This is a two disc set (12 episodes) that was ripped from three R1's (4 episodes per disc). The first disc of this Fx set contains the first 8 episodes (the first two R1's). The second disc of this set is a direct copy of the third R1 (which contains the last 4 episodes). It's pretty funny being a direct copy because every thing from the R1 is preserved including the "FBI Warning" that state's "unauthorized reproduction of this disc shall be prosecuted". Even the R1 "Pioneer" (the makers of the R1's) appears on the screen before the menu loads... very funny to see, the bright side is that it's like having an R1 (the quality is just as good)! Obviously the menu's are R1 rips... the first disc's menu has you select episodes 1-4 or episodes 5-8. Like all Fx discs that work this way you can't get back to that screen unless you reload the disc. The menu's are set up "Play", "1, 2, 3, 4", "Languages", "Scene Selection", and "Extras". The Extras are nice- previews for anime, actor commentary, promo trailer for Mahoromatic and credits. The trailers to other anime have just as good quality as the main feature, which is impressive. The packaging is a graphic gatefold featuring pictures from the R1's. What I like about this set is that it has an episode list on one of the inside panels. On the backcover it has a bunch of pictures from the first episode. The side of it is lined with clips of Mahoro doing work (from the intro) and it has the original GAINAX staff on the back as well. This set looks very proffesional. It truly is a perfect collection. This is a fabulous anime and Fx did a wonderful job. I can't wait to get the second season... It's a good thing there is a sequel because it nulled the ending a bit. I think I would have been a little disappointed if that was it... the final battle (one of the only ones) was a bit anti-climatic (not like a DBZ battle), though it was good that it didn't take 30 episodes for one battle! This is defiently an ECCHI with plenty of fanservice and nudity. A great anime... I recomend it to all.

The only gripe i had with this set was the way the first dvd was set up, if you went into the first part of the dvd for the first few episodes, it was impossible to go back out and choose the last few episodes, unless you stopped the DVD completely and played it again and choose the next. Other than that though though the set is great and i really liked the show, although there is a lot of nudity and the like, which i usually don't like, this show made it so silly that i didn't even notice most of the time.

This Anime sucks, don't get it. Its really cheesy and really boring. Its not that funny, and the little action scenes that happen every now and then suck too. There might be 1 or 2 good episodes, MAYBE. The rest of it sucks. By the time i was half way through it i just wanted it to be over. Bad plot, bad everything.

Again, WOW!!! Dual audio does kick ass. Nothing wrong with either tracks, although I prefer to listen in Japanese w/ eng subs. Crisp and clear. No problems in this category.

I had no problems at all with the video on this DVD, everything was crisp. I got a little bit of garbled colors maybe twice through the whole thing. R-1 rip, and brightness is right where it should be.
Audio:
No audio garbage. I did not watch the English Dub, but being an R-1 rip, there is no reason to think they would be any different. Audio never slipped once.

VERY cute story, everyone should at least check it out....a lot of comedy about the sizes of breasts...the usual type of thing you would expect from a fluffy android maid living with a single teenage guy type of sexy comedy. Worth every penny, IMO. The case it comes in is very well done too and includes episode names and numbers in english.

Yet another flawed FX release. The video is perfect so long as nothing on the screen moves. Any quick motion creates horizontal lines through the moving image. This also happens with any quick edits. These lines occur in every episode of both discs. It is very, very, annoying. I played them on my Daewoo & Apex DVD players, and the same problems always happened. Neither disc would play on my Panasonic or Sony DVD players. There was an especially large amount of pixellation during the action sequences in episode 12.
Audio:
Excellent audio. I listened to both the English and Japanese audio tracks, finding only the very slightest of differences. English dub fans should be very pleased.

Comment:
Not much to say here. As usual, FX stamps the word Perfect to something thats anything but. As for the series itself, it's hard to recommend. At first the show comes of like a Sci-fi thriller with a healthy dose of romantic comedy thrown in. It's not. It's just tons of nudity & tit jokes with remnants of some formulaic romantic comedy thrown in for merely for filler. Even the animation never attempts to be more. It is always simplistic at best. If there was more effort on the part of the animators and writers this series could have really been something. If you're just curious, skip this release.

The set was almost completely perfect. On the last disk on the last two episodes there is some noticable pixelation. You can see it when the screen is mostly red at the top of the screen. You can also see it during the last fight scene.

Great audio. Your normal pro-logic japanese and english tracks. The english is slightly soft like most sets.

Beautiful. Vivid color, very sharp. The only reason I didn't give it a five was the occasional aliasing issues that pop up (horizontal jaggies). They appeared both on my stand alone apex, and on my ps2. After checking the dvds in my dvd ROM, they jaggies don't appear. So I believe it is a compatability issue with my standalone player.

Perfect from what I can tell. I dont have surround sound so I couldn't tell you about that.

This set is a great buy. I had never seen this show when I bought this set so I didn't know what to expect. What I got was a great show in an awesome gatefold. By the way, the packaging was great in my opinion. The artwork was cool, and on the first panel of the inner gatefold they have the episodes listed in order. A nice touch. On the second disk there are trailers for other anime releases, as well as voice actor commentary on the show. These are also subtitled. I have finished watching the first season in its entirety, and I can't wait to see the second season. I may have to buy the AV set. I don't know how long I can wait for FX to rip it. This show is that good!
