Video:
This is pretty impressive quality for the amount of video packed on to the disc. Then again, it's an older style of animation with more slow pan shots and frozen heads so there isn't a lot of fast animation to pixelate. When there are fast action scenes, the bit rate increases to accomodate the animation so the video remains nice and crisp.
Audio:
The audio is pretty good considering this was recorded in basic stereo sound. Some of the sound levels on the English dub sound a touch tinny. That may be because of the source material though. Nothing major to detract from the audio.

Comment:
This is an identical release to the 5 disc set with three exceptions.
1) This set has more discs.
2) There are a different number of chapters per disc
3) The English dubs are seperate from the main video. In other words, if you just hit play and start watching this show from the beginning, there is no way to know there are English dubs. You have to go to the main menu and select the tracks with the English dubs. They are slightly edited from the main series (about 2 to 3 minutes shorter per episode) so they are an entirely seperate track.
This is one of the last space series done in the classic 80s style of animation. It has a fairly tight story and good mecha designs. If you're looking for that feeling you had growing up watching Star Blazers, Voltron, or Battle of the Planets then this is a great space opera worth checking out.
