This release had some awesome video. It's ripped from the 4 R2 DVDs, and seeing how it was just four episodes, all of them being on one disc doesn't lead to much, if any, quality loss. Even during the high action sequences the video held up. Colors were very crisp, too. The video is widescreen, I beleive. Well, there were the two black bars on the top and bottom of the screen like Mazinkaiser, so I think that means widescreen.
Audio:
Excellent job on the audio, too. Even with all the shouting going on, I didn't notice any distortion in the sound or any problems in the long run. Great job in this department.

Comment:
The most recent release of Getter Robo and a relitevely recent Go Nagai remake, Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo, is in all sense a retelling of Getter Robo Go's story. Except instead of having Go, Sho, and Gai battling Doctor Lando's mechanical zombies, they Dinosaur Empire, from the original series and comic return to wreck more havok on the human world. It reintroduces all the Go characters too, though. This OVA isn't part of Shin Getter Robo: LDotP's timeline, so don't get confused! It's very short at only four episodes, so there's no 50 episodes of filler in this one. Just some classic Super Robot action! As for the disc itself... It comes in a single clam shell case. The cover I thought was going ot be ugly. The picture on this site gives off that impression. But it actually lookd really well in person. Colors were alot darker. Anyways, the whole cover, back, etc. are all from the first volume of the R2 release. There's no insert in the case, like typical HKs. I was thinking of getting a clear gatefold and remakin the cover by having volume one and two's covers on the outside, volume 3 and 4's on the inside, but I don't know. On closer inspection, though, it seems the DVD case was to small for the cover. The back part of it wrinkles, and it sticks out only a little bit on the bottoms and tops. But it's hardly noticeable. I only have one other Anime Studio release that I never watched, but I must say I LOVE how they make the disc art look so shiny! The lettering stands out well. It looks really good. Pretty simple menu. No music or animation. Just your play, chapters, subtitle selection. There's a big picture on the right side to look at, too. Each episode plays out with a little bit of the show, opening, the episode, credits, then the next epieosde preview. Unfortunetly, each episode is one chapter, so you can't skip around to different parts, like how I usually skip the ending song and go right to the next epeisode preview. Though the ending song, "Rising," was great. The opening song I wasn't a fan of. Anyways, each peisode is one whole chapter, and that's also how the chapter select consists of on the menu. Just pick an episode. No eyecatches present. The show didn't have them. Most Go Nagai shows are absent of eyecatches. Keeping consistent. Speaking of that, the credits are the usual two or three colored pictures like in the other OVAs. I like that. Opening and ending songs aren't subtitled, but next episode previews are. Also, I don't recall seeing any watermarks (when the company's logo appears on screen) at all in the show, and there were no email addresses in the subs either. The show only had one opening and ending animation, so there's no change in it. The last episode has a different credits sequence, but that's typical of last episodes. The back does mention that it has the little Super Robot shorts, but they're not present on this disc. That little notice was just left over on the Japanese packaging and I guess AS couldn't remove it and make the cover look right. Or msot likely they just didn't care. There are some very nice fansubs of this show online, but if you want a hard copy of the show, I suggest this version. From what I hear, the MI two disc version doesn't ahve English subs, despite what it says. And remember, all HK versions of this show are out of print, so if you see a copy, GET IT!!
