Sub-par... so as with other reviewers, I'm guessing this was not a DVD rip. If it was, the compression is terrible. It's watchable until an R1 source is used for a complete set, however, I don't recommend buying this unless you're a huge fan of the show.
Audio:
Passable... but again, definitely not up to the quality of most releases these days. I'm looking forward to having the option of an English dub, as well, once the R1 releases are used as sources.
Subtitle:
What is this non-sense? Well, okay... most of it made sense... but the translations are too literal, the grammar is horrible, and there are mis-spellings everywhere. Only passable if you -need- to own this series before the R1 transfer shows up.
Comment:
I hadn't seen this series before... so I was glad to get the chance to watch it, despite all the flaws with this release. However, I can't recommend it unless you -really- can't wait for the R1 rip. Seriously.. you can spend your money better on another title.

The makers recorded this from tv. And not from the same networks either. Some episodes had the network id/logo displayed. I really can't complain about most of the episodes, they were ok. But one particularly important episode where Robin fights the hunter "Saxdray" (as the subtitles call him), is super grainy. I would have rated this an average 3 out of 5, but the video for this episode was so annoying.
Audio:
It was fine, not perfectly uniform as far as I can tell, but then again, I was busy reading the subs. The music and sound effects were ok though.
Subtitle:
Yuck. This series has a lot of dialogue. The subs turned out horribly. Grammar was wrong. Names were spelled wrong or were just plain wrong (yes, Sakaki is Haruto, but where did "Sunny" come from?). Some parts were subtitled so poorly it became difficult to understand what was going on (since they talk so much). In the episode titled "Sympathy for the Devil", Amon and Nagira talks about Amon's parents, the subtitles made it tough to understand who the seed was, who the witch was, ahhh, it was a mess. There's more, but it would take up too much space :)
Comment:
I love this series and bought this set because I couldn't wait for Bandai to release the later episodes. I wish now I had more patience. I tape the series when they show it on TV though, so the story becomes clear when I hear the dialogue and realize what they really are saying. Love the anime. Hate this rip.

Like said before, this is a TV rip. But darn, is it the best I have ever seen! While it is good, it does have its flaws. For one, there is ghosting. Frankly, I can see it every episode, but I really have to concentrate on it (which is hard because this series is great). Second, there is grainy-ness on the second disc. It's hard to notice. I had to rewind a little to make sure it was actually the real deal. But, it was, but it didn't take anything away. Altough very minimal, there was pixelation. Only happened about twice on the whole set.
Audio:
I can't say it was anything special, but it was good. Audio quality was good, but the music on the actual anime was a bit repetitive. I did love the theme song though. I found myself singing to it.
Subtitle:
Almost perfect. Most of the time, it features great grammar and spelling. Only on the first disc (and maybe the third) did the subtitles get bad. But even then, they weren't unbearible. The subtitles were presented in a yellow colour. They were the perfect size for me as well.
Comment:
Awesome series. Although, I do think the plot is a bit unoriginal.

Pretty sure it is a TV rip, the image flickered in a few spots but nothing too horrible, although for some reason episode 20 was really bad.
Audio:
No skipping or anything, being stereo it is limited though.
Subtitle:
The subs had their ups and downs, a few episodes were done flawlessly while some episodes were near unwatchable, and also Sakaki had his name subbed to at least 3 differnet names, "Haruto", "Sunny", "Kakaki", and a few times i think they did sub his name correctly.
Comment:
The series was pretty good, and when a perfect collection is released i will probably buy that one, this set just didn't do much for me.

Good for a TV rip, but limited.
Audio:
This did not suffer as much as the video, so was still not bad.
Subtitle:
Good HKs. It gets a little worse on the last disc, but in all quite understandable.
Comment:
One of the few series I've seen recently that's worth watching. Great suspense and a dark atmosphere that works well. Almost every epsiode has an action scene witch vs witch, but the main storyline evolves slowly and becomes more shocking towards the end. Some great characters here and an interesting relationship between two main characters. I recommend this if to to darker anime fans, perhaps those who like Noir. Much enjoyed. Can't wait to get an R1 rip when it's done. Note that I am a mature anime fan, not that it should make much difference.

some pixelation, during one episodes heavy pixelation but that's the only episode after that is quite less noticable
Audio:
crisp and clear although throughout the series the characters actually don't talk loud anyway, but quality is there
Subtitle:
usual type and grammar mistakes, at some parts the word 'what' was replaced with 'when', at least no missing lines so the series is still pretty much understandable
Comment:
I bought this sicne there's been a lot of advertisment on this series, and thank god I didn't pay a lot for it, I am totally disappointed. The story seems to develop very very slowly , no action at all, nor blood, think in the whole set there's less than an hour of action. Lots of talking through this series, kinda reminds me of Gasaraki, and it's previews, they show a lot and it looks cool but it actually sucks in many ways. ( note personal opinion ) The story lacks as well, ( have I mentioned it's really slow?? ) lol. Anyway I stopped watching it after 20 episodes because it was simply torture to wait and wait and nothing much develops. Planning on selling mine asap for any price fast.
