Video:
The video holds up quite well on all episodes on all discs. As is typical with HK releases, there is a bit of aliasing going on during extraordinarily active moments. Think, Tomo's hyperswimming scene... or those killer Yukari driving scenes. No! This isn't a major issue... in fact, you would be quite happy with this set, as I am.
Audio:
The soundtrack of Azumanga Diaoh is one of the most lively, ecclectic mixes I've ever heard in my life. It really compliments the look and feel of the show... and the sudden, jarring use of sound effects hasn't distorted or overmodulated on me once. Then again, I watched this show at room level on a regular television screen... I don't own a 16-screen cinema with digital sound certificates.

Comment:
It's a great show, a great set, a marvelous deal! The video's fine, the audio is durable and varied, and the subtitles don't hurt the show... they're just ugly and slightly inaccurate. If you're used to the HK DVDs and aren't upset by the girls occasionally calling other girls "Him" and "He", then you'll see no problem with the subtitles and easily look past them... unless you don't know Japanese, in which case it won't hurt you while you're looking AT them.
