it shows compression in some parts...of course the worst are the darker scenes, and those are a lot! i think there might be some mistake with the contrast regulation, but i'm not sure of that. overall, anyway, it's good.
Audio:

Perfect video and audio, definately ripped from the AC version. A few common video glitches here and there. The subs are spot on perfect except for when theres onscreen text which gets translated incorrectly, but it doesn't really matter much. The pop up logo is annoying as usual but the AC version has the same problem.

Perfect video and audio. Subtitles are also extremely good- oddly, the only time they're bad is when translating onscreen text (which is in english anyway). For example, the game in the movie "Mission Complete" but it's translated in the subs as "We'll Done". This isn't a problem of course, as you can clearly see the text in the movie, but its just a little strange. Other than that, subs are perfect. Also note that the Anime Studio logo appears in the top corner occasionally throughout the movie- it's never there for long, however and isn't much of a distraction at all. One more thing- although AS lists the language as japanese- the movie was actually made in polish, and is the language that appears on this DVD. As for the movie itself...well, it's certainly visually stunning, shot in gorgeous sepia tones. Other than that, it's pretty typical Oshii in that it's slow moving with nice bits of action here and there. Definately worth seeing, especially if you're a fan of Patlabor, Ghost In The Shell or any of Oshii's other works.
