You can usually see alot of pixleation on the hyper space scenes, big shoot out scenes and some other scenes. It sometimes is quick and painless and sometimes it will make you want too throw the show on the t.v screen. This was also my first set and I too have mixed feelings about it.
Audio:
I found no problems here..
Subtitle:
To be honest I am a "dub" type of person and rarely use the subtitles, so I am just going too give it a 5...
Comment:
If you can get past the pixelation problems your good too go, though I would recomend you getting the "FX" version because that might be better. I never tried the "FX" version but I have plenty of their titles and noticed barely any problems... If you guys have any questions e-mail me: [email protected]

Mine is the AV version and well the video isn't that great. A little better then a VCD 90% of the time but if you get the least amount of action then you get loads of pixelation. Cowboy Bebop has loads of action so I gotta go a little low on the video starage.
Audio:
Superb audio a direct rip. Very clean audio.
Subtitle:
Perfect rip of subs for the english speaking people. The chinese subs are direct translations of the english subs.
Comment:
My first set and well I have mixed emotions on it. The music video has perfect video while the rest of the show has a VBR that pixelates with ease. I guess mine was a early editon where they cleaned up the video a bit and did some stuff with the menus.

Great video quality! only some minor pixilation in some spots, and if you watch on a t.v. you probably wont notice it at all.
Audio:
One of the best soundtracks ever! Excellent music, get the soundtracks if you can afford them. you wont regret it.
Subtitle:
I'm not sure how great the subtitles were because i watched the show in english, but from what i've seen the seem to be perfectly understandable.

This is one of my favorite series! A great Anime to add to any collection! The packaging of this set is also nice, with pictures of Spike, Jet, and Faye on each of the disks, and a list of all the episodes.

Great video! Blocking appears during high motion scenes but is hardly noticeable most of the time. Hyper-space scenes are more susceptible to the blocking, but it comes and goes rather quickly. Overall this is great quality for an import.
Audio:
No complaints here, I listened to both the English and Japanese tracks and no problems occured. I used headphones so I'm not sure about 5.1 or any of that stuff, but I know it's stereo in the least.
Subtitle:
Didn't see any problems here, direct R1 rip. All of the timings seemed right-on with no 'engrish'.

Cowboy Bebop is a great series. It has action, story, drama, and a great soundtrack to boot! I highly recommend this series to those who are new to anime, and those who are veterans. It is great all around and will leave you eager to see the next episode each time. Most of us wish it wouldn't end, but of course it does. Dont forget to pick up the movie!

The video quality was awesome... now don't get the wrong impression I AM NOT SAYING THE VIDEO WAS PERFECT, but I am still amazed. The detail on the characters is incredible, but the ONLY reason I took 0.5 off was because there was pixelation during some action/space scenes. The funny thing about the pixelation was that it almost fit in. Don't ask, I am still amazed that pixelation could blend in in THIS anime... I guess it is the gritty atmosphere of the show. But if you don't like pixelation they are gone in a flash and they don't take away from the over-all experience that is Cowboy Bebop.
Audio:
The Japanese was perfect... The English was good too. My only qualm about the English dub was that the voices echoed in a few episodes... maybe this was just a special effect (large rooms, churches, etc.), but I don't remeber hearing any echo's in the Japanese version. Not bad though, even with the echo's I still give both versions 5/5.
Subtitle:
Perfect. No mispelling, congealed words, or broken words. Everything was concise and had good translation. Of course this is no surprise considering they have "subtitlers" in the credits, unlike some animes.
Comment:
Cowboy Bebop is such a good anime. No anime fan should be without a set like this. I also love the folding box set it comes in. After taking of the clear slip-cover and open it there are two sides one with a picture of Spike and across a picture of Faye. On either side of it are the list of all 26 Sessions. Then when you open these panels you will see the whole set opened on 4 panels. Three of the four hold the discs: the first disk has Spike on it, the second has Jet, and the last has a nice picture of Faye. The last (actually first panel going left to right) is a picture of a mono-color picture of Spike with the title "Cowboy Bebop" across it. Overall this is a very nice set.

The video was great for the most part. In a few episodes there was macroblocking and pixelation problems but it only lasted a few seconds.
Audio:
Audio was crisp and clean though the volume was lower than normal. No biggie.
Subtitle:
I didn't really see any problems with the subs. I prefer the dub though.

well..i've watched in english dub and i guess the music some times is very high and the voices again comes to a very low level you can't even understand what they are saying but i think it was made like that..
Subtitle:
nothing wrong with that . white letters with black boarders

The video looks great until their lots of motion. Horrible macroblocking in many scenes, some of which don't even have as much motion. This may be a rip of FX's video. The mackroblocking DOES get better later on, but at the start it sure as heck isn't going to start out so great. The video also seems dark and a little oversaturated, but I think that's just how Bebop was animated.
Audio:
Nice... Japanese and English. They seemed the same volume when I checked.
Subtitle:
Rips from the R1's. Subtitles are white, with a black border. Perfect. This set also suprisingly has Chinese subtitles, which I might add are timed perfectly. Pretty interesting, that they went through all the trouble to add them. Oh well, I guess it's so it sells well in China, hmm?
Comment:
Packaging-- Stupendous, and in english too. The 3 pictures are a nice shot of first Spike, then Jet, then Faye (in a fanservice pose). Let's talk construction. This is THE best gatefold type EVER! The hub that holds the disc is plastic tab that you push the center, and it smoothly snaps in, and the disc is pushed up. When you push the disc back, it automatically snaps back to place. It's VERY durable, and it holds the discs perfectly... no chance of them becoming loose here. plus, it's fun to use. ;) Menus-- Rips from the R1's... and great menus at that. Even the scene select menus are perfect! Extras-- Each disc comes loaded with extras. Bandai trailers, interviews, etc. It seems they took all the extras from the sets and spread them over 3 DVDs. Its nice that they went the extra mile for this. Content-- I actually bought this for a friend, and then later I watched it... and sorry all you die hard bebop fans, but I didn't like it as much. I didn't like the colors it was animated with, and the story wasn't that exciting to me. I can see how some people would love it... but I'm not one of them. I think this set rocks (in terms of authoring, not content). The packaging was great, and it's different then the other sets, so you can tell if yours getting the AV (look at the scan I did of the front cover). Well, I got lots more faith in Animation Video now.

for the most part, the video quality is PERFECT, but in places the macroblocking rears its ugly head, it made me wince, but then, just as quickly as it came, it went. You'll only encounter problems in a few episodes, for the most part, it is excellent and well worth the cost.
Audio:
perfect, no detectible loss of quality i watched it on a standard stereo television with a subwoofer. there may be some imperfections that i couldn't pick up, but for the average joe, its perfect.
Subtitle:
they were good, but some were a little off, i didn't pay attention that much. but very good quality, i think its the same as the R1 disks
Comment:
the edition i got was from AV, but i guess AV put out two covers, the cover you see here, and another one that resembles the FX edition, only instead of the green FX inside the red circle in the corner, it is replaced by a yellow DVD-Video logo, very good show, very good dvds
