We have indeed a case of pixelationissues, but realy not a big deal. It is a MI rip (check the 4th screencap on page 3).

Audio:

Nice quality! It Rockz!

Subtitle:

No major problems, but it's a yellow transparent font. Had no problems reading them though. I put some screencaps on.

Comment:

A must have wonderfull little series! Nice extra's (a clip, music video and creditless ending, every time with the same themesong.) I also put some screenshots of the credits. The diehard fans should also try the manga. I still wonder how they put it in an anime.

the only problem I had with subs is timing: sometimes too fast, sometimes too slow (it occurres just a few times, don't worry at all). I didn't find the transparence of the font annoying at all, I could read every line.

Comment:

an almost perfect set for a wonderful (really wonderful ) serie. I was moved to tears for the beauty that was spread all over. great plot, great animation, great soundtrack, great charachters...omg...a must have for every anime fan, or every person with good taste. a materpiece. indeed.

Great, overall. However, minor pixellation and aliasing are present during action scenes.

Audio:

Excellent and clear. No problems.

Subtitle:

Overall, the subtitles were very good. No noticeable errors in grammar or spelling. However some lines were mis-timed and either skipped ahead too quickly or fell behind the actual dialogue.

Comment:

FLCL is perhaps one of the weirdest animes in existence. But it features excellent animation and an excellent soundtrack! And this set would be a good choice to experience this short (6 episodes), unique series and it will make a great addition to any anime collection!

As previously noted, this is a rip of the MI set. The graphics seem to get a bit blocky at times... not in a big way but enough to show how much compression was used in this set.

Audio:

Hard to mess this up and I'm glad they didn't. The great soundtrack and all those juicy special effects sounds are right on.

Subtitle:

These are great subs for the most part. At the end of episode 4 and beginning of 5, the timing is off by a line or two. Spelling and translations are both good. There is a LOT of fast dialogue in this movie so the sub do flash up faster than I can read at times. The worst part of the whole deal is that the subs are partially transparent. They show up great 99% of the time but every so often, the background does intrude. Even though I'm pointing out all these bad things about the subs, I'm still giving them 4 stars for the quality of the translation of this very difficult series

Comment:

This is one of the weirdest series I've ever seen. It's also one of the most beautiful I've seen animated. It's got a 12 year old boy having WAY too much sex (all off screen), aliens, robots, school plays, and giant factories. I'm planning on watching this one a few more times to pick up all the subtleties. If you prefer something with a straightforward story then stay away. If you're looking for something that pushes the boundaries of modern anime then this is the series for you.

Very good overall, but I did notice a couple of flash frames. This is a rip of the MI version, so their logo pops up every now and then, but you barely notice it though, with everything that's going on in the show.

Audio:

Good. No problems that I noticed.

Subtitle:

I've seen the first 4 episodes on R1 DVD, and based on that the translation seems spot on. Probably fansub scripts, NOT a rip of the R2 subs for eps 2-6. Grammar and spelling are both excellent with very few typos. I knocked off a point because there are places where the timing is off by a line or two (seemed to be the worst in ep 4). If you pay attention, it's not that big of a deal.

Comment:

Extra's included: Pillow's music video-"Ride on Shooting Star", textless ED, DVD promo spot (unsubbed). This is a rip of the MI set, so you might want to check for more reviews and some screenshots. It's not perfect, but it is very good. This is a love-it-or-hate-it series. It does have a plot, though it's kind of abstract and buried underneath a lot of randomness. I liked this series enough that I will probably (eventually) buy the R1 discs.
