The future for earth is a rather bleak one. After a devastating global war, the world is left as a wasteland. Many areas have been covered with toxic forests, populated by strange giant bugs that now roam the earth. A young girl named Nausicaä decides to learn more about the wasteland, and its odd inhabitants, rather than destroy them as most humans would rather do. In learning of them, she discovers a great destiny not just for her, but for all of mankind.
