Definitely not the best picture out there. It seems to be a rip from the japanese Laser Disc sets. Some of the scenes seemed grainy and didn't quite flow right with the action sequences.
Audio:
Nothing wrong with the audio. It sounds great, even better than anything released in the U.S.
Subtitle:
Good, comprehendible, but could've been better. At some parts when people were talking, no subs would pop up, and sometimes the subs would go off the screen.
Comment:
A great set. If you're a fan of this series, get this set now. There was a problem with the last disc, and it wouldn't play at all. But they replaced it and works fine (but sometimes freezes a lot, but whatever). Also the first disc had some problems as well, but I've already seen that part of the series before so I didn't mind.

The video was alright ... SOme episodes were brighter than others while some were darker and grainy than others. No big deal though!
Audio:
I give the audio a perfect score!! The japanese audio is great and flawless. It's great to hear the original v/a's for sailor moon stars. They put in more emotion than the english v/a;s
Subtitle:
The subtitles were white.. Which I hate!!! some parts were not translated like when princess kakyuu first appeared usagi talked to her and there were no subs!! I wonder what she said ?
Comment:
I love this set and this is the last set of stars I a m going to purchase! The thing I wish is for the dvds to have diffrent menus!! They all have the same ones! Andwhen I got my set the first and third disc would not play in my dvd player.. I am watin for replacements

Not necessarily the best video quality when it comes to the technology of DVD, but still very excellent and very viewable. Colors are done pretty good and the quality is good enough to comprehend the animation improvements each season has and its new use of colors.
Audio:
All I can say is that it it's even better than ADV's releases of the first 2 seasons. Sound quality is very good and nobody has to turn up the dial on their volume. Since it is not subjected to the horrible dubbing, it's still pretty cool to hear the voices of the Japanese version. The soundtrack is also very excellent. You just have to love the Starlights such as 'Search for Your Love.'
Subtitle:
Mostly grammatical and timing errors but compared to other types of import-DVDs, the subtitles are very comprehendible and is not necessarily in Engrish.
Comment:
The Seiyuu of Seiya/Star Fighter, Niiyama Shiho, died of cancer back in 2000. She was in her late 20s as well. She did a great job as Sailor Star Fighter. Really showed how to show the aggression of the character and the sweet side of him (or her?). I highly reccomend this anime since it's the final season of Sailor Moon and you can't be a true Sailor Moon fan if you haven't seen Stars.

Audio was alright but it could have been better.
Subtitle:
Subtitling errors. Like other reviews said. Misspellings, timing errors, etc The main complaint I have is that if you watch them on a tv some of the subs get cut off. They play fine on the computer though.
Comment:
WELL I was expecting more out of this set. But I loved it especially the box art and labels on the disc. I reccomend this set to any sailor moon fan.

Video quality was pretty good for an anime its age. No real major problems that would affect watching this dvd and enjoying it. Although it isn't necessarily dvd quality. Very tolerable.
Audio:
Same as video, sound isn't bad for an anime its age. Again nothing here would make this dvd enjoyable to wacth. Not dvd quality however.
Subtitle:
Subtitling is very good for an HK dvd. Very few times where lines are left out. Sometimes a few grammer and spelling mishaps but again, nothing from making this dvd enjoyable. Loved it compared to others I seen.
Comment:
This set is just fine. Too bad this series will not come over to the states so no perfect editions on this series, but for a release like this, who would really need one? It very well worht the money. Casing is fine. Menu selection is simple yet good. Recommend this set to anyone out there interested.

I do believe the video was taken from a LaserDisc source, however, it seems a bit dark. It's nice, not too terrible, but it is blurred some at times, and does appear to be a bit dark.
Audio:
The audio seemed fine to me. I didn't notice any hissing or popping, nor did I notice any sort of hum.
Subtitle:
Subtitles were taken from an older fansub source. There are a few errors every once and a while, a mistiming probably once an episode, and just the normal errors [mispellings, wrong grammar, etc.]
Comment:
Considering Stars deals with a bit of a controversial subject [well, for US release sakes, anyhow], this is probably the best set that will be released for Stars in the immediate future. There are a few errors, however, they can be easily overlooked as the set is nearly flawless outside of that. I'd like to mention, however, that the menus on the DVDs do leave a bit to be desired [they're rather ugly -- I tossed in a screencap in the screencap section], but that's not a big deal, for you spend all of 10 seconds on each menu.

It would seem that the other reviews here have been a little too generous to this set, particularly where video is concerned. The picture is very soft, almost blurry in places. The colours seem rather dulled and everything is generally way too dark particularly in the earlier episodes. This all seems the result of poor quality sources.
Audio:
No real problems that I noticed but nothing outstanding either, it seemed to be lacking in punch.
Subtitle:
Good translations for the most part, as has been mentioned these are probably fansub scripts. Unfortunately there are alot of missed lines and mistimings. Just about every episode has at least one incidence of these subtitle problems.
Comment:
After reading all the great reviews I was slightly disappointed by the quality of this set. I can understand how, in the early days of HK DVDs, this would be regarded as an excellent set. So perhaps that explains it. However none of the set's problems are major ones and certainly won't distract you from what is one of the best Sailor Moon series. Unless someone does a R1 set someday, this is probably the best it's going to get, and that's really not such a bad thing.

The animation itself it very smooth..the color quality is amazing. I found only one or two scenes where they were blurry, I don't know why...but somethings are they get older lose a bit of their sharpness.
Audio:
It's incredible to hear the Japanese actors who orginiall brought this anime to life. I was amazed my the differences in the voices and definately could tell that they were into thier character. Although i know only a little bit of Japanese, I could still make out the words and phrases that they were using. It was very clear.
Subtitle:
The subtitles were excellent. I was very pleased with them. A friend told me that the subtitles are as close as possible to the English translations.
Comment:
I love this DVD set... the cover art is beautiful and vibrant. The DVD holder picture matches that on the DVD which I thought was cute... it's the perfect addition to any Sailor Moon collection... and the best part is... IT HASN'T BEEN EDITED!!!!!!!! It's in its original format.

Great video. LD rip! No problems with anything like pixelation or color bleeding.
Audio:
Great audio! No lines are out of synch, and the volume is normal. There is no English dub on this set. (Thank God!)
Subtitle:
The subs are most likely E. Monsoon's, because my old VHS tapes have the exact wording for the entire first 12 eps. I can actually recite the subs from memory and they were exact on the DVD.
Comment:
The menus have nothing but a screencap of the title screen and when highlit, they have the season number in red. Bland, but not too bad. A good buy for fans of the series.

Very nice video. Not the best and obviously from the Japanese LD, but still nice. Not very much pixellation either (like a lot of the FX sets). But also take note that for Sailorstars, the animators took a more red/orange overall color scheme for the series. So, there's nothing wrong with the video.
Audio:
The audio sounds fine on my set. No distortions to speak of, and the dialogue is clear and crisp.
Subtitle:
As a whole, the subtitles are great. Obviously, they're borrowed from the VKLL (a Canadian fansubbing group) sources. However, sometimes lines are unsubtitled and there are timing issues (subtitles for upcoming dialogue suddenly appear in another scene). This does get annoying, but shouldn't hurt your overall viewing.
Comment:
Great season and series finale to a great anime (that has always been joked as to be girly). But Sailorstars proved to be rather dark (almost as dark as Sailormoon S). The inclusion of the Outer Senshi was nice, too. I missed them. But the Sailor Starlights get annoying after a while (with their mission and all). The final five episodes are heartbreaking to watch, though.

Excellent Video. These seems to be taken from the LDs that have been used for fansubs for years. Infact, I even like the video quality more than Pioneer's SMS and SuperS dvds.
Audio:
Excellent Audio. Again, even better than Pioneer's S and SuperS dvds.
Subtitle:
Excellent subs as well. They seem to be fansubs, but I'm not sure from where since the one's from VKLL have had a sentences that were translated differently, so I don't think they were VKLL subs. There were a few times when lines were not translated, a few mistimings, and a few mispellings, but these are the best I have ever seen on an HK dvd, and I doubt it can get any better than this.
Comment:
Sailor Stars is my favorite season of Sailor Moon, and I've gone through fansubbed vhs tapes, vcds, and I finally own them on dvd, which this is the last version I will buy of Stars. This is still my favorite season, and with owning all of Pioneer's S and SuperS dvds, it is nice to have finally watched this series after I saw the ending to SuperS, so the beginning (Nehelenia arc) made a little bit more sense, and was even more enjoyable. I also love this series the most because the Saturn is my fav, and she finally gets screen time, plus the Starlights are really cool. I just can't wait for ADV's release of SM and SMR to come out this yr. Anyway, if you enjoy Sailor Moon, and you love this Stars, or have yet to see it, I highly recommend this set since you can't get better than this. It is too bad that our companies are half-assed pansies who don't want to release Stars here because of the Starlights.
