Overall:
Video:
It's a TV rip (translucent vertical lines seen faintly in the background, announcements show up at the beginning of each episode at the bottom of the screen), but it looks nice. The colors look good, and it still looks detailed.
Audio:
No problems here.
Subtitle:
HK Original Subs. All of the character names are correct, and the only name I saw butchered was the name of a building. Translation can be slightly off, but most of the time they have at least the basic meaning down. Some not-so-great wording, grammar, and missing articles can lead to engrishy sentences, but the vast majority of the subs are easy to read and understand. They are along the lines of the "Witch Hunter Robin" and "Samurai Deeper Kyo" original subs by AV, and perhaps their subs for "Please Teacher", except these subs seem to be more consistent in getting the character names correct (than the first two titles in comparison).
Comment:
The initial set-up of the story seems to focus on a teenage girl coming from the countryside to the big city in order to refine her magic powers as an apprentice and become a full-fledged sorceror. The series definitely shows some good potential, although it's short (only 12 episodes) and the pacing of the show is fairly slow. The animation looks very nice. There are no Extras on this disc. One final note, the MI version is a rip of the AV version, but only for the first 4 episodes. The rest is MI's own TV rip video and own subs. In comparison, the MI video is softer but does not have the translucent line problem. The subs are slightly worse though--wording, translation, and grammar are at the same level of the AV subs, but all of the Japanese proper names are way off (although all of the non-Japanese are correct), and sometimes they even throw in absurd looking made-up words. In the end, I'd recommend the AV version over the MI version.
