Reviews for Gokudo Perfect Collection

Overall:

Video:

The video quality on this set is very good which just makes it all the more enjoyable to watch.

Audio:

The audio was loud and clear just as it should be I can?t find any problems with it.

Subtitle:

The subtitles appeared fine to me but I watched the show dubbed with subtitles mostly so I can?t really say how well they match up throughout the entire set.

Comment:

This series was very amusing and I was laughing throughout the entire show. I am very happy that I bought this show when I did the characters are just so goofy and have so many problems. The situations they are thrown into are bizarre to say the least but done very well. I can?t praise this show enough because I bought it on a suggestion with very low expectations but it far surpassed anything I could I have imagined it being.

Almost perfect dvd quality, not very much pixalation but in a few episodes there is na small delay after the halfway point. Pretty good for an R1 rip.

Audio:

Great audio, although sometimes the volume changed around in an episode (got louder or quieter) but not very often.

Subtitle:

Pretty decent subtitles, but remember I am a dubbie, the only probloms were that there were a few delays in the subtitles' timing on a few points and there was occasionaly a line missing, but otherwise no probloms.

Comment:

This is a great series, I was constantly falling out of my chair laughing. The only downsides are that the only extras are the creditless openings/endings. If you people likes Slayers, Orphen or Rune solider you will like this series.

It's a R1 rip. There's some minor pixealation and some grain (nothing too serious, though) in some scenes...specially in the 1st DVD that has 10 episodes (the other 2 DVDs have 8 episodes each) Apart from that, no problems

Audio:

Standard 2.0 Stereo Japanese and English...no problems

Subtitle:

Well...this gets a 4 /4.5 ...because they are also r1 ripped and no timing issues, however there's something like a average of 1 +/- missing line per episode. It can be slighty annoying, but you will have no problem understanding the show...and most of the times you can easily figure out what's been said.

Comment:

Contains no Extras whatsoever , Menus are in English and there are something like 5 chapter breaks per episode. This one really reminded me of Slayers...kind of

Relativley Clear DVD quality, even though I have no other prints to compare it to it still looks good. I prefer watching this anime on a normal TV because it does macro block, I think the term is, and its really noticable on a computer screem or High Definiton screen TV. Overall I though the video was on parr nothing to really hamper my viewing pleasure. Good stuff!

Audio:

As far as I can tell the Audio was great. No skips or jumps in audio. Much preferred the Japanese dubb in this anime, because of anime content, English dubb sounded out of place and BAKA. I really liked the opening theme and the Second Ending theme. No prblems here

Subtitle:

I found many missing lines throught the series but the translation it self was well done. If fact I really liked the way some of the more colorful word phrases were translated. White subs with light outline through the anime. Opening and ending themes were subtitled nicely. Aside from the missing line through out the anime subs are excellent. Missing lines rarely detract from what ideas that are conveyed in anime. Pretty good stuff!

Comment:

I loved this anime. It was a fun rollercoster of debachery and hedenism in a funny slap you in the face with a piece of raw veggie burger sort o way. The series was cut up in to a bunch of multi episodal stories that connect to each other very nicely. The main caracter is quite the punk you you grow to love um along with his brash, sinical personality. I recomend watching this one. FUNN FUNN Stuff!

Good color and animation. Think Slayers meet Dragon Half. DVD qulity is top notch. R1 quality.

Audio:

Sound is clear and crisp. Jap VA is done well. I also saw this title with Eng. dub. This is one of those better Eng. dub. If you prefer Eng. dub. over sub., this is good title for you.

Subtitle:

One of the best sub. I saw in import anime. It does have some missing lines. But it happens like 4-5 times per disc. I speak Japanese, and translation is pretty accurate too.

Comment:

First thing to mention is that this series is SUPER shallow, LOL. Slayers looks like serious epic tale when compared to this (what more can I say). ^_^ But this fun, pure comedy. None of the characters in this series is stereotical or perfect. You have a main hero Gokudo, who is a blond swordsman who would steal money/food from poor old grandma. and hungry children. He wouldn't care if someone gets robbed right next to him. Then you have this genie who "tries" to guide/convert Gokudo to a good man; good luck with that. This genie is a sexy female magician/dragon/fat ugly man/servant of demon realm all at the same time; confusing? yes, non-stereotipical, yes. Then add another dozen of wacky characters like this, and add tons of shallow humor, you have Gokudo. If you are looking for serious deep anime (aka Lain, Haibane Renmei), stay away. If you are looking for funny anime with good play (aka Tenchi, Slayers), stay away. If you are looking for silly, shallow, Japanese equivalent of Southpark, buy this set NOW! Hope that helped. ^_^

R1 ripped. Clear, very minor pixelation on some action scenes.

Audio:

Only listened to Jap dub.Volume does not stay the same within the episode in some episodes.

Subtitle:

Most of the conversation is English subbed but on some occasions I sensed some sentences are not subbed. Nonetheless I have no problem understanding the story given Gokudo is not deep.

Comment:

Gokudo started out really funny. Then Gokudo's various battle with the gods becoming predictable. However each character in the story is quite memorable. I will say that Gokudo himself is definitely a riot ;-).

R1 rip all the way. No problems.

Audio:

Eng & Jap audio. I've used the Jap audio, and there are 0 problems with the audio. Time is perfect.

Subtitle:

R1 rip. This set has maybe 7 missing line's over the 26 eps. So in reality, its a perfect rip by HK standards.

Comment:

No real problems to be found except that disk 2 locked up at some point. Skipping the point with 1 sec, and it runs normal. May just be my disk... This is a MUST see serie. It may not be so know like other serie's, but when you start seeing it, you wont stop watching. This is a serie like Slayers. The main character on the other hand is a total Anti-Hero. Out for fortune, bad habits, a temper, and the first to run when there is trouble. A must see serie. This serie rate's a 9.5 in my book.
