Reviews for 801 T.T.S Airbats

Video:

Crisp video, disc 1 had 3 ova's, disc two had 4. So there was plenty of room on the disc.

Audio:

Very good. Watched a bit of the english dub, its not very good. Dialogue was toned down big time from the subtitles(almost down to Family level)

Subtitle:

Almost perfect. Must select 3 track as stated by others. Track 1 had many dropped lines.

Comment:

Not a bad series. Had some airplanes thrown in for variety.

Direct R1 rip so you can't get any better.

Audio:

Japanese and English audio. No problems here either. The english dub is really bad

Subtitle:

As mentioned before there are 4 subtitle tracks. If you select Japanese with english subtitles in the setup menu it will show the 3rd subtitle track which is the correct one. I do remember a couple of missing lines early in the first episode in the 3rd subtitle track, strangely enough those lines were included in the 1st subtitle track The 2nd and 4th subtitle tracks are just the song subtitles and the overlays that translates any Japanese text that is on the screen

Comment:

Extras were included, clean opening and endings as well as what seems to be a making of interview or maybe something about the Japanese air force. I don't really know cause it wasn't subbed. This seems to be a direct rip of the ADV DVDs. Great set but I kinda feel stupid for buying it because you can find the R1s for only a few dollars more. Get it only if you don't have easy access to cheap R1 DVDs

The video looked fine for me except for a moment early on in the first episode where something seemed to happen to cause lines to appear accross the whole picture making it unwatchable, however I watched it again and the lines appeared once more but for a different duration, so maybe it was just a problem with my player and not the encode.

Audio:

The audio sounded good to me, though I only listened to the japanese track.

Subtitle:

As other reviewers have already pointed out there are several english subtitle tracks on this release but only one you could really watch, this version of the subtitles was great and I had no problems with it [luckily I had read the reviews before I saw the show as I dont think I would have thought to check for more that one english sub track].

Comment:

I enjoyed this show it was very lighthearted stuff, and if you enjoy anime with humour, love triangles and "fan-service" you will probably like this. The only things that bothered me about this release was that it was short [only 7 episodes i think] and it could have all been fit on one disk to save me money ;)

R1 rip, enouf said ...

Audio:

R1 rip (Eng / Jap audio). Jap is clear like it needs to be.

Subtitle:

R1 rip, yet some people reported problems with the subs. While other dont. So i did a investigation, and it seems this set has 4!!! sub's. The first & default subs are filled with error's like some people said. BUT, when you switch to track 3, you have perfect R1 rips. The other reviews there dvd players may have selected the track 3 by default or they switched it manualy & forgot to tell it or they dident notice it.

Comment:

Remember that track 1 is filled with missing line's, but the normal track track 3 is almost perfect.

No pixelation or blurring in either of my discs. No watermarks either.

Audio:

I had to turn the volume up just a little to hear Mitaka's voice, but other than that there was nothing wrong with the Audio.

Subtitle:

R1 Rip, no problems with the timing or missing subs in my set.

Comment:

Viewed with: Zenith 27'' with PS2's DVD capabilities. This really was a fun series to watch, I'd compare it to El Hazard or Tenchi Muyo in basic story.

This looks like a rip of the ADV release. The whole thing is perfect except for episode 4 which has some flickering at the top of the screen for a few minutes.

Audio:

Great audio. Both the English and Japanese tracks are top notch.

Subtitle:

I've updated this review after being informed to try a different subtitle track. My player defaults to the 1st subtitle track (as I'm sure many players do) which is a horrible subtitle with poor timing and many many dropped lines. The 2nd and 4th subtitle tracks both show up as english on my player but have no subtitles that I've been able to find scanning through the disc. This leaves the 3rd subtitle track which is a perfect R1 rip and the way this release should be viewed as the voice acting in the dubs leaves a bit to be desired. I've rated this only 4.5 stars due to the difficulty involved in finding the proper subtitles.

Comment:

This is a really fun series. The play between the three main characters is a lot of fun. It's nice that they left the extras at the end of the disc. The first disc has opening and closing credits without any text and the second has a making of interview held at an airport. Too often they get left off the HK releases. I recommend this series to anyone that wants a light hearted love triangle comedy with lots of high flying jet action.

The video was just a little worse than the domestic release.

Audio:

Basic stereo, no hisses or pops or distortion.

Subtitle:

Direct rip of domestic version, about as close to perfect as you're gonna get.

Comment:

I first saw on the original vhs release and thought it was very funny for the most part. There is some fanboy service in the second episode. I would say this is a good purchase, you can't go wrong. It gets really funny in the 3rd episode, there is a little Tenchi Muyo type stuff going on here, much to my amusement.
