The first disc had darker colors. However, the rest are okay. The pixelation is back again in the high action scenes as well as the flashy scenes.
Audio:
Everything was okay but the background songs were a bit silent. It can't be heard above the dialogue. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that though.

The conclusion to the series. Very nice! It's highly recommended. The ending was sort of disappointing though. If you want more, get the three OVAs.

Looked decent on all three of the players I tested/watched it on. There was some pixelation during high-action scenes, though I would only consider it an average amount and intensity... nothing too serious, but clearly not up to par with more recent FX releases such as Full Metal Panic and sCRYed.
Audio:
Spot-on for both the Japanese and English voice tracks. The music also sounds as good as it's going to get... given the sometimes cheezy source. ;) No problems here. Volume levels are also consistent throughout the series, and from the English to the Japanese voice tracks.

I reviewed the first season, and basically said that I was worried for the first half of the season, that it was going to be too lovey-dovey... with characters repeating eachothers' names over and over.. and too many flashbacks. However, once the character development was well under way, and the plot darkened, I fell for the series. There was still a lot of "love love love" crap that got a little out of hand here and there, but it wasn't enough to draw my attention away from the excellent character designs, the great character inter-relationships, and the mysticism that the plot conveyed. The second season continues with the same sort of material as the latter half of Season one... so if you enjoyed that, you're bound to enjoy this season. I think the second season of Fushigi Yuugi actually pulls its punches even less than the first... getting down-right brutal in a few cases, and really taking me by surprise. With the exception of the recap episodes (2 and 3), and some of the late episodes which contain really long, out of place, sappy music montages, there is a lot of goodness to see here. Recommended, but only to those who have watched the first season... and who enjoyed that first season.

This is what got to my notice immidiately. The video on this part is noticably worse than on the first set. While the first set was a near-perfect rip with only minor pixelation, this one is a step backwards. First I must say I only completely watched the first episode, and spot-checked all the disc, through a lot of episodes. First of all the pixelation is much worse on this set. On the first disc this might be logical, since it has 10 episodes on it. The 2nd disc has 9 episodes, and the last one only 7. But the last disc also has about 13 music video's, which take up about 50 minutes of time (!) in total. In the first set there was only minor pixelation, that didn't bother me at all (a lot of people probably won't even notice it), but in this set it's definately worse. People who were bitching about the old Bebop set by FX, will most definately hate how this was ripped. Especially in the action scenes and the opening sequence there's pretty bad pixelation. While it's definately a bummer, I can live with it... looking at the price you pay for it. Still could've been a lot better though. Overall the video looked a tad darker then the first set too, but this might have been like that in the R1 DVDs too. It also looked like there was a TINY ammount of ghosting in the darker scenes, but that could just as much have been my imagination. UPDATE: Now I've watched the complete set, and I must say things are looking better after the first 5 or so episodes. It seems to me the original R1 DVDs of the first 5 episodes were pretty dark too. The pixelation on the first DVD of this set is also worse then on the other 2 (since it has 10 episodes to it). There still is pixelation on the last 2 DVDs, still worse then Part 1 of this series, but not as bad as the first disc on this set.
Audio:
While it sounded a bit softer then the first set, it was still perfectly fine. Since I didn't watch all episodes yet, I didn't find a sync problem. I'll edit this review if I find one. UPDATE: I found 2 episodes with VERY MINOR audio sync problems. I believe it were 43 and 45 or something like that. It was VERY minor, at first I didn't even notice it (since there weren't any major sound effects). I don't think this small a sync will bother people too much. Since the subtitles are still in perfect sync with the audio, I believe it's acutally the video that has the sync problem (lagging). Don't let this drive you away from the set though, it's barely noticable.

Overall it's a very good set, it's just the video that takes a step backwards from the first set. This is probably because they used quite a bit of space for the Music Video's. So it's just what you like... they could've lost the extra's for better video quality, oh well... Now, if you think this set looks horrible, don't. It's still a DVD rip, just not a perfect one. If you're really bitchy about video quality, then you should just leave this set. Otherwise it's pretty much perfect.

Packaging: Great! The pictures are lovely and vibrantly colored, and there's an episode listing. Extras: These are located on the 3rd disc. The extras are GREAT! A picture gallery, line-drawings gallery, and my personal favorite- music videos! (Basically just the image songs with scenes from various episodes pertaining to 'em. Plus there are English & Romanji subs for them!) Overall: I paid $38 for this- and I can honestly say it's worth the money! Also check out the 1st Box (Suzaku), Fushigi Yuugi OVAs, and Ceres.

Again near perfect transfer, although you have to keep in mind it is an older show so it doesn't look as vivid whether you buy region 1's or not. There was however one problem 1 episode on the second disc I believe experienced the same video/audio synch problem where they were off by about 1/2 second. It only happened in one episode that I can tell, wasn't anything to get upset over.
Audio:
No problems other than what I said above.

I really enjoyed parts of this series and others really frustrated me but it's worth watching once.
