Reviews for RahXephon Volume 1

Overall:

Video:

The video quality on the first disc is a beautiful R2 DVD Rip, no problems what-so-ever

Audio:

Nothing amazing, but no problems detected, once again, very good

Subtitle:

Slightly above average. I didn't like how in the opening and ending, the subtitles only appeared for some of the words (wierd, maybe only mine) The subs were a bit late of most (if not all) of the dialogue AND, Some spelling errors, especially in episode 4 (i think) were in the beginning, they say "Ayoto's mother had Blue Wood" and they misspell Ayoto about 5 times in the first 3 minutes. Other than all that, they are nicely translated

Comment:

This is shaping up to be a very good series, possibly a "next best thing" candidate

Very good DVD rip, but for some reason it looked a TAD blurry and grainy. Most people probably won't even notice it. Still very, very good DVD quality.

Sounded very good on my setup, nothing was lost.

Well, it seemed the single Disc release by MI was a direct copy of the AV version, and had AVs subs on the disc (another font was used). But I have the version from the complete box, and it was an "MI original" job (other font, like all MI releases). They were definately ripped from fansubs, and have very good quality. Sometimes there might be a typo in it, or one line might be a second behind, but that's about it. Very good.

Comment:

I watched the Volume 1 from the RahXephon Complete Boxset by MI, but there's no seperate review site for that one. So I chose to post it in the single disc version. - 8 episodes - No logos - Chapter breaks for OP - Start - ED - Subtitles on OP/ED vary. Sometimes they're subbed, sometimes they're not. I don't really care about that though. - Has a Creditless Opening, and a Music Video for the opening song Hemisphere. It's just and extended version of the opening video, with extra material from the first episode mixed in, but it's a fun watch. If you're going for RahXephon, get the MI version, since the AV version of the series has TV rips starting from about episodes 16 (disc 2), and the MI set has DVD rips upto episode 20. So you only have 6 TV ripped episodes (badly though). This disc is still near-perfect though. Recommended.
