This is a very strange show. I enjoyed watching it, but the characters are sureal. There is one character that I think is the best. She is a tall, athletic, fully endowed student...who tries to be cute and little. She loves cats...but every time she tries to pet this stray...she gets bitten. Each time the evil cat fools her...it is soo funny.

I have always wanted to see an anime like this one!! Perhaps, my favourite.

Video is superb on this release, however I did notice the issue with thin lines as the previous Reviewer. Granted I was looking for it and probably wouldn't of noticed it if it wasn't brought to my attention. Definately nothing to worry about.

I had to give this a 4.5 because sometimes the volume dips down for some reason. You can still hear everything thats going on just fine but its noticeable that the volume on the audio changed, it always goes back to normal after a second or two and doesn't happen that often.

Personally this is one of my favorite shows, watching it the first time I would honest recommend downloading the fansubs if possible since they are better at explaining some of the cultural stuff that you might not understand. This is still an excellent release so far.

Video quality is excellent on this DVD! THe only reason I gave it 4. 5 and not a 5 is because I kept seeing around the thin black lines, especially when a character is standing still, it flickers a little. Nothing to bad that will detract from the show or anything. No blurring or colors or anything, so video is great!

Azumanga Daioh is one of the best animes I've ever seen!! This is one of the funniest, cutest, animes of all time! There really isn't a story. It's just the humor that follows a bunch of girls going through high school. Each have there quirks, making this a very colorful anime. This will definetly not disappoint anyone! Now, for the DVD itself. Opening is before the first episode, ending after the last episode. Both are subbed in English :) The opening song is whacky and long! Ending is cute. Eyecatches are cut out. Nothing big there though. If you want to know what there like, download an episode off Kazaa or something and check it out. It's a still frame of something. Nothing big. Menu has all the episodes listed, subtitles, and chapter select. No extras. This is an awesome release and an awesome show! I highly recommend this!
