Judging this anime's age, and the fact that the series, in it's entireity, was never released in the US (especially not on DVD for that matter), I would say this video transfer is DAYUM GOOD!
Audio:
The audio isn't that great. But there are no defects in it, It's just that anime music in the 80's wasn't that great anyway.

Comment:
Overall, judging by the anime's availibility in the U.S. (which there is virtually none, I'd say this set is worth picking up if you're feeling nostalgic or you're a huge Macross fan.

Video:
Due to the show's age, (it was broadcast in 1983 following the original Macross TV series), I was unsure as to just how good the video would be on this release. Thankfully, the video on this release is tremendously crisp, clear and defined. Taken from a remastered R2 DVD by the looks of it, or if not, then a super sharp LD, there's practically nothing wrong here as there's little or no macroblocking and no cross-coloration. Excellent job.
Audio:
Ok it 'says' it's remastered in Dolby Digital 2.0/5.1 on the case, however, on my sound setup all I got was sound coming from a single source, pointing toward the fact that appears to be basic stereo. I mean the stereo track that's in place is fine, with no hissing, background noise, tinny sound etc... but it could be a LOT better if proper DD support was in place.

Comment:
Well considering Orguss probably won't ever recieve a stateside release, this remanins your best bet until a better HK rip arrives with superior subtitles. All I can say though is brace yourself for long bouts of concentration as you'll need to in order to work out what the heck is going on in most of the episodes due to the mediocre and unsophisticated subtitles.
