Taking place in a new alternate universe, the next Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, will begin airing this October. At this point, very little is known about it. The main character of this series is sixteen-year-old coordinator Kira Yamato, a citizen of the neutral resources satellite Heliopolis. When a group known as ZAFT attempts to steal five Gundams secretly built (or at least stored) on Heliopolis, Kira is dragged into the war. Four of the Gundams are successfully captured, including one piloted by Kira's best friend, Asran Zara. Kira, however, becomes the pilot of the G5 Strike Gundam, the only one not stolen, and is forced to do battle with the other four Gundams, including his best friend's Aegis Gundam.<br />
