The return of the irrepressible (he's not that irrepsonsible, after all) and fantastically-named Justy Ueki Tylor, aged 20, captain of the UPSF destroyer Soyokaze. After successfully completing one more mission for the top brass at UPSF, the crew of the Soyokaze are assigned ground duties until further notice. Tylor manages to catch up on some sleep during his post at Data Resources i.e. a library, whilst Yuriko Star is called on to investigate the mysterious destruction of a transport convoy on the frontier - an important mission since Lt Yamamoto has been given command of the next convoy. Ace pilot Kojiro gets to hone his skills by testing the new UPSF fighter and it's back to school for Andressen, Cryburn and the rest of the marines. Meanwhile, in the heart of the Raalgon Empire, Empress Azalyn attempts to regain her childhood innocence but is cruelly forced to face the realities of being the leader of her people. War is coming, but will the UPSF and Raalgon Empire realise that the threat does not come from each other - a far more powerful force is entering the fray.
