The rating is till the last episode of disc 2! As many others mentioned the set is near perfect till the last episode of disc 2. video/sound: R2 rip so 5/5 subs: fansubs. I would give a 4,5/5. How can they be rated 3??? What's wrong with them? Some typos and maybe not exactly translated but that's it. As for the last episode of disc 2 and 3. What a surprise, AV did a TV rip again. It is not as bad as the 3rd disc of RahXephon but still bothering because you see the difference to the previous chapters. The subs are still great till the last episode. This one has timing problems (the subs are always ahead and sometimes turbo). Even if AV srewed this up (once again) with the 3rd disc, it's still a very good set. Great video till the last chapter of disc 2 and after that an average TV rip, subs are very good till eps 23 and the story is just fantastic.

I was really impressed with the voice actors and the animation of this show. I thought the manga was a little dry and slow, but the wacky humor and querkiness of the characters was nicely integrated into the storyline.

Video: 5/5 Audio: 5/5 Fine in DVD player, but when I watch on my computer, the volume fluctuates quites a bit. Maybe this is a problem on my end? Subs: 3/5 Some akward translations, a few missing letters/words, and some spelling/grammer errors. They are not THAT bad, but they are not that great, either. Kokubunji Minoru and Shimizu Takako are referred to by different first names, but if you are listening to the audio track, the errors are not that significant. Episode 2's subs were the worst and didn't really convey parts of the story accurately. Although, if you have not read the manga, you probably wouldn't notice. edited by kamykami on 16 Nov 2002 12:02 am

Several other reviews have been posted, so I'll make this short, and give my two cents. Video was perfect. Best I've seen, outside of perhaps Furi Kuri on HK DVD. Audio was great as well. As far as content goes, if you've seen any episodes, you know the series rocks. There's a chapter stop for every part of the episode, which, while a welcome change from one per episode on many HKs, can be a hassle to search through episodes for the last one you watched. As you can see, I pretty much agree wioth everone else. Unfortunately, I have to say the subs get a 3/5, if that. They were absolutely suck-tacular. Yes, they were timed VERY well, but they were god-awful. The things they did to the English language are unspeakable. They're good enough to get the point across, however, there were MILLIONS upon millions of spelling errors and grammattical mistakes. edited by ragnorokk on 25 Oct 2002 1:47 am

Studio: Video Animation Eps: 1-8 Video: 5/5 Excellent, DVD sharpness. Audio: 5/5 Good and clean. Subs: 5/5 Excellent, either fansubs or very good HK originals or both. The OP is subbed, not sure about the ED (didn't bother checking). Chaptering: Prologue, OP, Part A, Part B, ED, Preview. Bonus: Textless OP. Menus: Play and Bonus are in Chinese, Chapter and Subtitles are in English. wtf? ^^; Also, pushing Menu from playing a chapter puts you back into the chapter menu on my DVD player. Chapter selection is animated, all menus have music playing (usually the very horrifyingly saccharine "Let Me Be With You"). Content: All of the show looks to be there so far. I haven't seen digisubs so I can't say, but recently VA's been on a very good trend with including everything. Impression: It's cute and fluffy, and has a good HK release. Fans will probably want the Pioneer domestic for all the extra goodies, but this is very nice for HK standards.

Ok... finaly finished it today now for the review: Video: 5/5 This is an excellent dvd perfect video I didn't notice any problems what-so-ever. I believe this is an R2 rip. Audio: 5/5 Same score as video simply because it is a rip with no problems. Subs: 4.5/5 This set has near perfect subs (perfect if you consider the history of hk subs). I would give this a 5/5 but the anal side of me couldn't give it a perfect because there are like three typos and a couple of lines slightly mis translated. Now if you know a little japanese then you will notice these small things. One scene Hideki asks if Chi is ok and it is translated into something slightly off from that. For the most part though these are perfect subs even with over elaboration in the subs sometimes. Very good. Menu: 4/5 Very basic for the title screen, yet quick and easy. The chapter menu is excellent with lid thumbnail scenes. Although part of the title menu is not in english so I docked it a point. Break up: 5/5 This set has chapter stops for the openning, part a, b, ending, and preview. With everything intact this is perfect. Extras: 2/5 Only the textless openning is there, other than that there is not much to say except maybe expect a textless ending on the next vol. Overall I would have to say this is probably the best Hk I have seen and I am anxiously awaiting the next volumes from Av. I would recomend this set over any other set coming out just because you can't really get any better than this except to have all the episodes available. In the end though 9 eps. leaves you waiting for more.

I just got this set today and as a skim through the disc it seems to be a great release. Looks like a R2 rip so excellent video and audio. Presented 4:3 widescreen. All opennings, endings and previews are intact. The menu is very basic but it gets the job done. Subs seem to be great also. I have only watched the first episode, but it looks like there are only a few typos and thats about it. I must say that I am looking forward to watching more of this series and will post a indepth review later after I have finished it. I didn't check the special feature though I believe I saw some, its just some of the menu wasn't in english.
