Perfect rip of the Odex release.
Audio:
Very good, but on the last disc it sounded a little distorted for me, as if recorded at too high volume. But maybe that's only my cheap TV speakers.

Girls' Olympics in space. Never would have bought it myself. But since a friend did, I watched it anyway. And found it quite entertaining, even despite the predictable story. A nice short title to watch inbetween. I'm even thinking about getting the TV series. Recommended.

Looked great in my Apex DVD player and DVD-ROM drive. I do believe there is an MI version out there with incorrect region coding, these DVDs played fine however. This is an Odex rip. The menu is in a neat interface, with the intro music playing in the background with various footage in the background. About 4 OVAs on the first DVD, 2 on the second.
Audio:
I watched this title with Japanese audio and subtitles on. There is no English dub present. The audio sounded great in stereo to me, you could hear all the voices and effects clearly.

Comment:
I watched this after the TV series, and I feel it is better to watch it that way, as the OVA contains spoilers. Packaging: Nice cover with female protagonist on the front. She was also on the DVDs. On the back are SD (super deformed) characters. Fan Service: Pretty good amount, this is an anime with futuristic sports events, so you get to see the characters in various outfits. There is nudity, but no detail is drawn in. Content: This title left a bad taste in my mouth, but was slightly better than the TV series. It was shorter than the TV series, so that may be a possible reason. This was just a personal observation, something just didn't feel right to me about this title. I felt I should be enjoying it with all the bishoujos around, but I didn't for some unknown reason. I am not much of a sports anime fan, so that may be it (or it could be something else...). In conclusion, all I can say is I watched it. My advice is to read a synopsis of the show and make up your own mind.

White spots appearing once in a while, but still really good video, sharp and clear.
Audio:
Hai hai, TV and PC speakers again. Did not hear anything wrong.

Comment:
- Second disc cannot be detected on my BenQ DVD-ROM. Played fine on my Panasonic DVD-RV46 player, but towards the end, on a few occasions the disc couldn't be read properly and distortions appeared. - Menu is animated with background music. Standard menu options: Play All, Subtitle, Chapter. - Seems to be Odex rip. Pioneer LDC and Odex logos appear during the start. - Ending song subbed. - Packaging is generic MAC gatefold in a hardcard slipcase. How boring! Also, there's a catalogue/leaflet of MAC sets in the gatefold. The leaflet shows titles from MA001E to MA040E, and MA124E to MA143E. - First disc contains 4 episodes, second disc contains 2. Content: Okay story, okay animation, weird-looking lead character, very good audio, video, subs. Some characters remind me of other anime... that's Shinobu mumbling "ano"... and that's Kaolla stuffing herself full... and that's Ifurita with that wild look in her eyes...

This is the review of the MI version, the MAC version is probably the same. This release is an ODEX rip so everything is great. I have only seen a few minutes in each DVD, so this review may not be very accurate. But be carefull, this DVD is coded for region 3 only ! Video: 4.5/5. Aspect Ratio: 4/3. Bitrate: 7.000 Mbps. Resolution: 720x480. Nice colors, good compression. Contrast could have been a bit better though. Audio: 5/5. Dolby Digital (AC3) 2 channels. Bitrate: 448 Kbps. Sampling Frequency: 48khz. Sounded great to me. Subs: 5/5. Very good because this DVD is a rip of the official ODEX release. Bonus: 0/5. There is no bonus available, but the packaging is very nice. The box says 2xDVD5, but the first DVD is a DVD 9. There is 4 OVA on the first DVD and 2 OVA on the second DVD. edited by Andre on 24 Oct 2002 12:23 am
