Perfect R2 Rip. There is a red tint to the picture, but after awhile you'll probably not notice it. No pixelation, glitches, etc. The artwork of spirited away is a little different from other studio ghibli titles like Kiki's Delivery Service and Mononoke Hime. I think it is new artwork.

SUPERB! THE JAPANESE 6.1 DTS TRACK KICKED BUTT! There was a cantonese dubbing which was well done. And it also contained a Japanese 2.0 track. If you don't have a decoder for the dts, just watch it in 2.0.

I thought this was superb and probably the best i've seen from an HK. People have been talking about this red tint but I have to say I didn't notice it but I have never seen an untinted version (I hear the R2 has the same problem). Super crisp and lovely...
Audio:
Great! Has a Cantonese dub and even a DTS japanese track but I don't have a set up that could decode it but I presume it's there...

The packaging on my version is different to the one pictured here but mine was much nicer... A nice light green with an image inside the case aswell... As for the story, it was probably my least favorite Miyazaki film but it's still nice... It can look a bit to digitally animated at times... Absolutely great and the best bit was I got it free from CJV with an order over $100!!!

A wonderful R3 rip. Yes, there's red tint, but you'll get used to it.

Really good. I can't really find anything wrong with it. If only I had a DTS decoder.

Perfect (R3?) rip. This means, that the red tint, that was in the original source is also there. White appears in a kind of pastel pink and blue looks kind of turqoise. It's clearly noticeable and you can't do anything about it on a normal TV / player setup. (At least I couldn't do anything, since the colour toggles won't work on my TV when input source is via RGB and I can't control the colours separately anyway)
Audio:
Perfect. Also contains dts track, but I don't have the equipment.

OK, this is the movie that won the awards. Still this isn't the best Ghibli movie IMO. For me there was too much packed into the movie, cluttering the main story somewhat. Of course, even an average Ghibli movie is still an outstanding anime.

The video itself is very clear and crisp! I had no complaints for the actual video. My particular copy, however, had an occasional choppyness to it. Not a bad one but a slight one nonetheless. I still recomend it to evryone and not to be deterred by it. It was not a frequent chop! ^_^

This was perfect. It never drowns out or gargles or anything. Absolutley perfect!

The Cantonese audio is perfect and pretty accurate from Japanese translations. The Japanese audio was wonderful and no problems.

Let me start out by saying the red tint is very very noticable [if you had aready seen a color corrected version]. It never goes away. I read that some people say you just get used to it, but I never did. When I saw this DVD the first time through, I immediately put it on my trade list. The problem is, though, that ever single version of this out has some kind of red tint problem. The R1s are the least noticable. Other than this flaw, there is no macroblocking, the video is very nice [since it was straight ripped from the official R3

Comment:
The read tint really puts me off. IMO it creates a different atmosphere for the movie that doesn't seem to natural for it. Its a good release by MAC, after all, it was a direct rip from the R3, with the only real flaw being the tint. Its a recommended title, if you can spare the extra money, the best version is the R1, otherwise get the MAC or get the SVCD Color Corrected Isos.

This is the anime that I first showed my girlfriend. She absolutely loved it. So if you're new to anime, and want a good story then this is a great choice. It's a great feature, with amazingly great audio/subs/video. Definetly worth the buy :D

As an owner of the original R2 Japanese disc, I saw a friends copy of the bootleg to compare the two. The video is almost exactly the same including the red tint which is on the bootleg and the original. I saw the movie in the theaters so if you did too, then the tint is very obvious. Picture quality is as good as the original
Audio:
Audio format is the exact same as the R2 Japanese import. Even has the 6.1 DTS track. If you only have 5.1 then you wont be able to take advantage of DTS. You'll have to settle for the 2 channel audio.

This is a great film and has been captured very well on this release, for me the video, audio and subs were all perfect [I didnt notice any red tint]. I was not sure if this film would appeal to me as it is very different to the genres i usually like, but it was great, and I can understand how it won a golden bear. If you are thinking about getting this film you really should, I cant imagine many people being disappointed by it [and at $9 you can take a chance!].

I counter something more like four dropped lines, and there was usually at least one problem with capitalization or punctuation on every line of the subs. First words and names are never consistently capitalized and you probably see one period every three or four full sentences. Video/audio were perfect. Good movie.

The audio, video, & subs are great. Another nice feature of this dvd is that the cover is reversable (The other side has a blue cover...that I personally like better) The best thing about Miyazaki is that you can count on an origional story that you will love. The storyline is what is so amazing. If you enjoyed totoro, laputa, nausicaa, princess monoke, Whisper of the heart, etc...then you need to add this to your collection. (Grave of the fireflies was just too sad to add to the list)

A perfect rip, there is a red tint but it is VERY minor and problably won't be noticed unless you are specifically looking out for it. Video: Flawless except for the tiny red tint problem. One of the few HKDVDs I own in which the zoom function on my DVD player works. Audio: Excellent, claims it has DTS, I'm not so sure about that but it is 5.1 surrond. It also has a chinese (cantonese) audio track (2.0) as well which is a great bonus to me . Subtitles: Excellent. Didn't even noticed the 2 dropped lines mentioned in the other reviews .

Video: 5|5 Perfect video. I didn't notice the red tint any while watching it. Looked perfect to me. Audio: 5|5 Sounded great, too, especially with my headphones. Subtitles: 4.999999|5 Two missing lines that weren't important. No big deal. Otherwise, it was typo and engrish free. Perfectly readable and understandable. Not much more to say. Great movie, great set...

all fives. content, video, sound, and subs i found no problem what so ever with anything what so ever. the two missing subs where at points of the story where they didn't effect my understating of the story. i didn't notice any tint at all.(in the past i changed the settings on my tv to give the picture perfect coloring, sharpness etc. that might be why i dont have a tint) and the sterio sound sounded perfect. this movie is now my favorite. buy it!!, buy it now!!

Video: Really nice picture with no distortion or flickering. There is a red tint that you tend to ignore throughout the whole movie (see the screen shots to see what I'm talking about). Overall it's decent. Audio: Absolutely no complaints here. Subtitles: Two dropped sentances are the only bad marks to this whole release. The language used in the translations is easy to understand, well timed, and preserves the original names (which is very important to the story). Content: This is Miyazaki at his best. The story is told with wonderous creatures and subtle expressions. It's about the strength a young girl finds when trapped in a strange land. You must see this movie. Buy this release to see it now and then buy the R1 when it comes out to see it with all the extras and better colour.
