Quality was good overall. Glithches were minor but normal for 26 eps. being squeezed into 3 dvds.
Audio:
Great audio. I don't like eng. dubs but full marks for having it in anyway.

The drama cd serves no purpose. Since you have already bought this, why would you want to listen to a couple of eps. MAC should have made this into a 4 dvd set. Or even included the OST as the 4th disc. I would have felt ripped off except for the fact that this series is really good. This is 1 of the few animes i've watched where you can't miss anything. And you won't get it on the 1st viewing either. I think i wore out my rewind button on this!

i have a different cover, but slide it and inside is the mac symbol. i have to disagree with the last reviewer about the video quality. tech wise, i have check the bitrate for this series on my PC, 3.80Mbps average. on a constant quality setting or VBR between 2.50 to 4.50 Mbps. in some heavy motion scene and where fast lighting such as gun fire, you'll see those blocky pixellation, though most of the scene is not motion heavy. this is the result of, "i'm going cheap, lets compress". and i think disc three shows slightly lower quality than those in disc 1 and 2. I'm very particular about video quality, things must be perfect, so for those who doesn't mind, or doesn't look for extreme quality, this version will do. but video buffs, look somewhere else. this brought up another question. off all that compression on disc 3 it only sed 7.18GB, which still have 2 more GB free. they messed up. and didn't even try to make it up. thats crap. i'll definitely post some screen shot and the cover disc 4 is the drama CD. audio only.
Audio:
great no weird noises or anything. Eng dub, and jap original

Comment:
great series. original story by Hajime Yatate and Ryousuke Takahashi. very political and philosophical. slow at times. story wise i give it a 5 out of 5. you'll be more interested in this series the 2nd time you watch it. if you like gundam at a slower pace. this is the next series on your list.

The 26 episodes are spread over 3 discs in the usual way not 4 [the 4th disc in this set is an audio disc] there was no real problems at all a few small glitches but nothing to take away from the show. Sometimes the theme songs were subbed in English and sometimes in Japanese.
Audio:
The audio sounded good to me, I watched the show listening to the japanese track but a brief listen to the english voices suggested no problems with timing or anything and the quality of the english dub actually sounded pretty good if thats your thing.

Usually when I start to watch an anime series it takes me a few days to a week to get through 26 episodes but it took me a lot longer to watch this one. The story opens with no explanation of what you are seeing and as you work through the episodes you slowly get little bits of information about the characters and the mysteries the plot is throwing up. I didnt really feel interested in the characters or compelled by the story until about the 6th or 7th episode at which point I felt I got a bit more of a grasp of what was going on and wanted to watch more. This show is a complex drama with the empasis firmly on character interaction and development as well as the plot. I feel it was well written and crafted though the ending was kind of abrupt, neat and tidy while failing to deliver on a lot of the interesting stuff that had come before [is it just me or do cop-out endings seem to be a feature on a lot of anime shows?]. I feel I must stress that this is a serious anime which requires concentration it has little humour, there is no "fan-service" and the mecha fight sequences are infrequent and subdued. Im not saying that that makes it a bad show [ I thought it was pretty good] but that is what it is like. Also I was a bit disappointed with the case and fourth disc. The case has great ink artwork on the outside with a background of green and red, but the disc holder things dont in any way hold the discs in place making getting the dvds from the shelf to the player and back again an unwanted challenge. The fourth disc is an audio cd with I think is about 10 or 12 tracks one track is the opening music another is the closing music the rest seem to be something to do with the show, it is the voice actors talking in character, but as my Japanese extends only as far as "hai" and "bakka!" I felt it was a bit of a waste of $9.
