The video was excellent. The other thing I can compare it too, was when Escaflowne was aired on Fox, and YTV. I saw no differences, and on the DVD player I was using, I saw no problems what-so-ever. Same goes for the movie.
Audio:
Nothing wrong with it. Audio wasn't to high, or low for that matter. For anyone wondering what language to watch this in - Japanese. no question about it. The one thing I dislie about Escaflowne is its english soundtrack. The voices don't suite the characters (in my opinion). Though, the voice actors did the best they could. Although, keep in mind, I DO dislike dubs and would rather subs.

Comment:
Escaflowne is amung my favorites of animes. Also, one of the first ones I have ever watched. It was great seeing the Japanese version for once. I liked the packaging. It had images from the movie in it, and the DVDs themselves were nicely decorated. Please keep in mind that the series was made in 96, I do beleive. The story itself is amazing (but I won't ruin it for you)..and it catches audiences very easily. I watched the whole thing in two sittings. I think the biggest audience for this would be girls aged 14+, but, guys, don't let that stop you. It's amazing and is good for ANY audience. Great job, FX.

Average video Quality for the tv series... considering it looks as though it is a direct transfer from the R1 DVDs. Nice quality for the movie. Averages out at about a 4. Not up to FX's newest releases... but not bad, either. Fair amount of pixelation for the tv series.
Audio:
No problems here. Soundtrack, voice tracks, and sound effects are all decent. The audio won't blow your mind, but it gets the job done. Again... about average quality.

A really fun, interesting series. Not as dark as what I usually watch, but it entertained me for all 26 episodes. The mech battles are great, and some of the villains will -really- get you into the show. The movie is much darker, and isn't so convuluted with un-needed characters. I preferred the movie telling of the story (it is a re-telling, rather than a continuation of the series). Average quality, but the worth of the show makes it worth picking up this FX set. Really nice packaging, as well... typical of our good ol', reliable FX.

I had no problem withthe video. It was good throughout. It was a lot better than vhs, but not as good as many titles out there. The discs do freeze once in a while, but I think it was due to dust.
Audio:
Audio seemed fine. I have no problems in this area.

This has to be one of my favourite anime I have seen. It is one of the best Fanasy titles out there. The movie is also very good, but is based in a different universe. Overall A great set. The set has extras added on, such as music videos, and a few more extras like paystation clips and tings like that.

Audio:
clear but sound volume changes from episode to episode on disc two, nothing major though

I really enjoyed this series, i found the "larger nose" animation a while to get used to but the animation is very fluint and clear, the story is full of plot twists and sometimes pacing disjointed but thats due to the cut back from 32 episodes to 26! but i dont know why because i thought it was excellent meger of medieval, sourcery, fantasy mecha action! definately a fav of mine (also one of he first anime series i everwatched in one sitting!) the movie is good but the series is alot better alos the musical scores are very tranqual and set the mood correctly!

Video seems a little blurred for DVD, closer to good VHS quality. Had a few spots of pixelation, not bad...in the whole thing maybe 3 spots. Overall I just felt it should have been much crisper for a fairly recent series like this.
Audio:
No problems with the audio here. The japanese track is not as loud as the Dub track...not really a big deal to me.

Comment:
I was pretty disappointed in the show myself...it never really goes anywhere, the "Guymelef" mechs are pretty boring, the main character is too whiny, and the movie is....well....I won't spoil it for anyone. My other gripe is that the third disk of my set was almost unplayable due to spindle jitter (bad disk) and I had to fight with it to finish the story up. Only go for this if you need swashbuckling mediocrity with a weak sci-fi garnish.

I must agree with Kaos on this one. The Video quality was below what I would expect on a DVD.
Audio:
Audio was great. It greatly enhanced the experience of listening to Yhokko Kanno's amazing soundtrack.

All in all, the show, great subtitles and nice audio quality made up for the slightly dissappointing video quality.

The video on this was worse than VHS. there wasn't any pixelation but it just looked like crap. I've heard all the hype about Fx and it sure didn't show on this one. I was expecting more in the video.

I was definitely expecting more from the video. I thought Fx was the best. I've bought 4 Fx sets and they all are bad video quality. Im sticking with the 7$ DVD's if i can help it(edit:By this i meant sets that were 7$ per disk like mac, this was when fx were 9$ a disk).

The video was mostly good. A few scenes that were pixelated. The movie was fine but chapter 12 has a slight error on it. Basically it just pauses a few times during that part of the movie.
Audio:
The tv series was alittle soft but good. The movie had dolby digital and dts dub and jap tracks that were great.

The tv series has some extras like music videos, a live solo of the intro song, a psx in game movie, and the movie trailer. Everything else was fine.

Great, I've had no problems with it, although I'm not done it the whole series. As for the other reviewer's comment on the sences in the movie being to dark, upon reading a review of the R1 I read that they were complaining that the fight in the beginning it's to dark. So it's a natural thing.
Audio:
Very good as well, the only problems I have is with my tv itself.

If you like Mecha type anime you MAY like this series. A big part of it is based on the mecha Escafliowne, but to me it seems more based on charactor relations, or atleast Hitomi's strugle with her emtions, ect. My only complant is one that can't be helped. The show is kind of rusted thorugh, it's full of action, but still. I read somewhere that this is due to the fact that the show was planed to be 30 something episodes, but was cut down to the amount it is now, also that a few useless sences were cut before it was finished. Also, although I haven't watched much of the movie it's kind of an alterent universe condenced version. Hopefully that made sence.

Both the TV and Movie are DVD R1 Rips. The Menus are in English. Video : 5/5. The Image is Great and i could hardly find any pixellation in both the TV Series or the Movie . The only thing that i can point is that the movie picture seemed somehow "dark", but i can be my TV Setup. Audio : 5/5. No problems. The Tv Series is 2 Ch and the Movie includes DTS. The Audio tracks are in English and Japanese. Subtitles : 5/5 .They are great. R1 rips. They Are Perfect. Of course i can't comment on the Chinese Subtitles :) Extras : The TV includes Escalflowe's Playstation Game Footage, The Escalflowe Movie Trailer, a couple of Music Videos of the songs from the serie and Footage from Maaya Sakamoto singing Escalflowe Songs Live. The Movie Includes The Storyboards wich you can watch along with the movie. Package : It comes in a nice Coloured Gatefold with images from Escalflowe, and it holds all the 4 DVDs. Very nice. Overall : I found this a great Set. If you like Escalflowe, my advice is ...Buy it. No problems whatsoever. All in all FX did a great job !
