Video:
Excellent video throughout, except for the pixellation which occurs during fast-motion scenes like hyperspace and gunfights. Nothing to worry about unless you're extremely picky.
Audio:
Japanese track sounded perfect, and I didn't watch the whole series again to check the English track, although I did check periodically throughout, and everything seemed fine.

Comment:
- The SKU on the spine says V3TJ159. There is no indication of it being a MAC set anywhere on the package, but the discs themselves have the Mac logo. Is this an AC-MAC set? The packaging itself is a gatefold with artwork everywhere in a clear plastic sleeve. The tabs for the first and third discs do not hold well at all, and every time I open my gatefold the discs would be resting on the second disc.
- Menu comes in the animated-with-background-music flavour. Menu items are: Play, Scene Selection, Languages, Subtitles, Extras.
- All openings, closings, previews and commercial breaks intact.
- Chaptering is as follows: opening -> title -> first part -> second part -> ending -> preview.
- No watermark, e-mail, or website address anywhere to be found.
- There are 9, 9 and 8 episodes in discs 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
- Extras are not subbed! Watashiwa nihongo wakarimasen! Too bad (-_-)
- After finishing an episode, the show returns to the Scene Selection menu instead of continuing onto the next episode.
Content:
I find the series to be... artistic, especially with all the jazz. It didn't draw me in as much as I thought it would, what with all the rave reviews and stuff. There are a few very interesting episodes, however, and the finale is truly excellent. The closing song Blue at the end of the last episode is a good song by itself, but when listened after the shocking surprise ending, it became all the more haunting and heart-wrenching.
Conclusion:
Watch this series to see what all the rave is about, and you can't go wrong with this set.
