All 3 DVD's: Awseome, probably Laserdisc quality. I found no pixellation, grainy or blurry scene. The graphic reminds me of Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers), they (graphic) are not the best out there but it's fun to watch old classic japanese anime.

Audio:

No problem detected, the opening song is very catchy

Subtitle:

1rst and 2nd DVD: 4/5 Fansub quality, all the character's names are right, the translation from Japanese to English is excellent, all the words are translated properly and I didn't notice any phrases that were translated poorly. Awseome job However, there were many mispelled words in it (about 1 mistake per 10 phrases) In many place, the letter "e" was replaced by "o" so you could see in the subline wore = were, cleset = closet, tennis = tonnis ect.. ect... Sometime, you had to switch 2 letters in a word to make sense like oyu = you. But most mispelled words were a one letter mistake. I wish they pay more attention in that department. 2 missing sublines but no biggie The ponctuation/syntax are awseome They even translated the opening/ending/previews of every episodes, very nice 3rd DVD: 4,5/5 Fansub quality, better than the 1rst DVD. All the names are right except near the end of the DVD, Matsura was incorrect one time (Episode 24) and Yuu was translated to Yun one time (Episode 26) but the rest is fine There are still some mispelled word but much less than the 1rst 2 DVD, most of them were a one letter mistake. 3 missing sublines The ponctuation/syntax is the same as the other's DVD Overall, pretty good sub but they better watch out for the spelling of the words

Marmalade Boy was great, I though it was better than Maison Ikkoku. Marmalade Boy is a romantic comedy with plenty of shocking moment, surprise, deception, betrayal weird relationship ect.. ect.. It's kind of a soap opera. So much is going on, I like these type of anime. One of the weirdest relationship in anime history (I think) involves Yuu and Miki parent's. Yuu mother hangs out with Miki father's and Miki's mother with Yuu father and they all decide TO LIVE IN THE SAME ROOF. Imagine Yuu and Miki reaction when the parent's announce they will both be married at the same time HAHAHAHAHA That was a classic One of my favorite charcter in Marmalade Boy was Meiko, Miki's best friend. She has a relationship with her teacher. Nobody knows this, not even Miki's. The way she fell in love with him was very touching. However, Miwa another student from school fallows her around asking for a date and he wouldn't let up. At one time, Yuu and Miwa plans a double date (Yuu with Miki and Miwa and Meiko), however it backfires for Miwa as Meiko is not even interested in him HAHAHAHA Poor guy The character's relationship really start fast during the first 5 episodes. Miki has to choose between Yuu and Ginta, a friend from childhood. Ginta made fun of a love letter Miki left him during middle school and she doesn't know if she deserve him or not. Yuu is a playboy, he refuses every advance of girl so everybody thinks is gay when he hangs out with Miwa. Pretty fun to watch. Arimi Akizuki always love Yuu but she can't stand seeing Miki beside him. She has a ingenious plan to pretend to be the boyfriend of Ginta to make Miki's jealous because she hasn't decide to take either Yuu or Ginta. Pretty interesting idea for a storyline. Most of the episode involves around Yuu- Miki and Ginta, with Yuu and Miki living in the same house as theirs weird parents, anything is possible. It was pretty unpredictable a times, a happy scene can end in a sad scene, friendship can be very fragile ect.. There are 26 episodes (24:20 minutes each) and after the end of the 1rst set (there are three set in total), you watch to see more and more. With 75 episodes in all, I'm very eager to see what will happen to all of the character's relationship after that. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. Overall, Marmalade Boys is one hell of a romantic. If you liked these kind of anime, get it right away. Unlike Marmalade Boy, Maison Ikkoku start slow and only pick up the pace near episode 60 but in MB, the drama start right way. Nobody knows what will happen next. I'm eager to watch the next two boxset. You won't regret watching it HIGHLY RECOMMANDED Extras: None Packaging: Nice cover with Miki and Yuu and on the backside, you see the all of the cast of Marmalade Boy (12 character's in all with no grown-ups on it)

The audio and subs are top class the video is laserdisk quality. The subs were great (names, timing, spelling, grammer) and they even translated the opening songs. I am pretty sure that the set I own is the same as the set shown...since I do not think any other company has done Marmalade Boy...but my set only has 3 discs. They include 24 epsiodes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SERIES. NO OTHER ANIME HAS THIS STRANGE OF RELATIONSHIPS!
