Looked great in my Apex DVD player and DVD-ROM drive. This is a rip from the R2. However, I did notice a slight pixelliation in the opening when I compared it to an R1 copy. If you had never seen the R1 copy, you could probably never tell. The DVDs contained all the extras that I think they could contain, with the bonus live action end corner sequences intact.
Audio:
The audio track had no problems that I could tell. It is in stereo for you listenting pleasure. The fighting sounds and yells were very vivid.

Packaging Comments: One interesting item about the packaging is that the cover of the DVDs do not match the back of the DVD case they inserted into. This is the first time I have seen something like this. General Comments: The character designs and bright colors on this series were gorgeous! This set also had one primary thing that kept me going throughout it... PANTIES!!! There were lots of panty shots! Nothing near the amount as Aika or Najica Blitz Tactics, but nevertheless, there was a fair number of panty shots scattered throughout the series! There is also a few parody episodes where the main character, Ryoko, has to wear a Mahou-Shoujo (magical girl) outfit! This set would be worth it if you had some background in the story (such as watching the first few episodes with a decent translation) or just wanted some eye candy to drool at without dropping down to hentai levels. I personally enjoyed seeing young bishoujos going head to head in a fight with their uniforms and white panties!

Video - 5/5 R2 rip. The video quality was EXTREMELY good. You'd think these were the R2s themselves. The video quality is like that of Pretear (MI)/VHD Bloodlust (MI) or better. All OP, ED, and Previews intact and subbed. Audio - There was no audio trouble throughout all 13 episodes. Subs - 0.5/5 Jesus Christ these subs were horrible. Absolutely deplorable. I've never seen subs so bad that I couldn't understand what was going in the show...until now. I am not exaggerating in the least. You're better off turning off the subs and making up your own story because these subs are only going to be taking up space on the screen. I've never seen the Gaogaigar 5DVD (AC) set but this set finally made me able to imagine how bad they must have been. The grammar and translations were ridiculous and unintelligible. And the character names they used are so off that you'd think they picked them out of a hat at random. I thought AV was on a roll. I have no idea what happened here. Character Names Ryoko = Laso/Ryoko Mitsurugi = Mitsuru/Gomi Hitomi = Lanmei/May Kusanagi = Grass/Kusa Nagi = Chen Shizuma = Chima Daisaku = Choe Kamiya = Shensi Miyuki = Sarwami/Mijuki Onizuka = Teisei Tatsuya = Tazija Shishikura = Lionchan/Shihisu Azumi = Oumei/Sarwami Kiribayashi = Kilidayashi Keiichiro = Isuro Nagumo = Iou Reiha = Laha Okita = Daitan/Arnomi Goto = Ardod Akira = Conlachi Ryunosuke = Little Dark Rumi = Lumi Akitaka = Tarkayaki Nanase = Kutonana Setsura = Chigi/Saro Tomoe = Ba Gates = Kishu Terms Mafia = Underground Crab = Wow K-Fight = Wrestle Samurai = Wrestler Pendant = Lightning Stone Dream = Soimoi Sample Sentences Its good for you take back gun In my words there is no the word give up and end Why are you continue attacking Are you won Chima Suck guy is he dead? Poor it needs ambulances Because I consider you as so I remain some Its very great I have awaked up Is Gomi won? Have a confidence on him It can be seen the fight with the monster I will protect it by a heart I am a strong grass Chima Beat you never forgive you Let me do Let the wait put on a magic dress Its so funny those people gather here You're a failed son F-uck f-uck prepare now The only stronger is Chima in the world Episodes = These 2 DVDs include the complete 13 episodes Chapter Breaks = OP, Beginning of Ep, Middle of Ep, ED, Preview Extras = These 2 DVDs include the clean OP and ED and the complete 13 "Special End Corner" segments that appeared at the end of each episode presumably and are each hosted by the two lead voice actresses for Ryoko and Miyuki. They show a variety of things, such as some of their live action footage for the ED, the official Samurai Girl website, some of the modeling photography sessions, a trip to Gonzo, sketching their characters, short interviews with other voice actors like Daisaku and other people involved with production, and VHS and DVD release promotions. Overall = It was a really torturous chore to have to sit through this entire series without knowing what was going on. I wanted to give up at episode 6 and was surprised at myself for making it that far. I couldn't give up though because I wanted to see if there would be an improvement in the subs in the later episodes and I wanted to provide the most in depth review possible so no one would have to suffer like I did. Of course if you make your own SVCDs this would be an excellent and cheap video source for you. If you have fansub scripts you can watch the show on your PC and use them. And if you know Japanese, the subs won't matter and this would be a perfect release for you.
