Overall:
Video:
This is a series from the late 80s, so the original quality isn't up to today's standards. And you get 10 episodes per disc, so there is some noticeable compression. Still, perfectly watchable. On the 2 OVA episodes there's some heavy ghosting.
Audio:
Good audio. My only complaints is about the opening prologue that is repeatedly shown before the early episodes: it really sounds tinny. And you notice some noise during the 2 OVA episodes.
Subtitle:
These are taken from very good fansubs, but have some faults. First, there are a lot of missing lines, ranging from 1 to 10+ lines per episode. Second, there are a lot of missing spaces, i.e. words stickingtogether. And on one episode (the UFO episode), timing is one line off. The subs for the 2 OVA episodes are "engrishy" HK originals with names slightly messed up.
Comment:
This series is a lot like Maison Ikkoku. Similar story, similar character design (Madoka really could be Kyoko's sister) and similar level of entertainment for the viewer. So despite it's faults, if you liked Maison Ikkoku, go out and get this one. Highly recommended! This set contains the TV series and 2 OVA episodes and NO MTV.

It ranges from 3.5-4. If you've seen the Maison Ikkoku set from MI, you have a preatty good idea of what it looks like - for the most part, it looks preattty good for the age of the series, like an LD rip. The first episode (and so far, thankfully only the first episode) had problems though - lots of ghosting, 1 segment of video lag, and overall grainness. Every episode has the closing, but only every other episode or so has the opneing.
Audio:
No problems I could hear. A little subdued at times.
Subtitle:
Good quality fansubs, so correct names, grammar, english, etc. Words get stuck together a lot. Lines get skipped for no reason occasionly, but nothing critical. The timing is dead on, except for the opening.
Comment:
Packaging - 1/5: UGLY. I think MAC wanted to see how many times they could get there logo on to it - the inner gatefold has the MAC logo a good 20 times, plus on each disc. The discs themselves have nice pictures of Madoka though. Plus, it might just be me, but the discs were hard to get out...no button in the middle, just prong things. Menus - 2/5 - Bland, but functional. Chapters in Kanji. Chapters - 1/5 - There are 3 chapters per episode, but there placement makes them useless. It will be like: Chapter 1 - begining of ep, chapter 2-3-5 mins into ep, Chapter 3- 20 mins into ep. I think they were trying to do op-episode-end, since they tend to be within a few mins of those. But, the way there set up is useless. One note though, the TV series itself is on 5 discs (4x10 and 1x8). The 6th disc is just 2 episodes of the OAV. Overall though, the series is not be missed if you like things like Maison Ikkoku, as it is a true anime classic from the '80's. [note: I've only seen the 1st disc all the way through, I'll update if it changes]

This set contains the entire TV series plus the MTV stuff and 1 OVA. VIDEO: 4.5/ Looks real good. Especially since this is a real old show. No problems here! AUDIO:4.5/ I don't really have a big audio setup, but I didn't hear any problems. SUBS:4.5 I've only seen a few episodes of this, but so far it has very good subs! This has the usual problems (ie. words stuck together, very few mispellings, very few grammar errors). I will update this once I finish this series. The only thing that sucks about this is the MAC packaging. It comes with a gatefold case with no artwork. Overall I really recommnd this set. I am really happy with it. A really good buy.
