Video:
The video is great in this series, especially for a show of it's age (20 plus years old). I gave it .5 less then a 5 though, because there is room for improvement. Some parts look like there's dust on the screen and stuff. Probably cleared up in the remastered version by Animeigo. But the video is still great
Audio:
Sound is awesome, too. Nothing much to say here. Comes across crisp and clear, without any distortion in the whole series.

Comment:
I had trouble picking which of the sets I was supposed to review; this on or the MI one. But seeing as it says Anime Cartoon Int. at the beginning of each disc, I went with the MAC. I assuming though MI ripped this set or vice versa, so this review probably works for both the releases. OK, so Macross has always seemed to be one of those disaster titles you hear about in HK. Looking at the reviews for the MI set, I see it gets 0 for subs and poor ratings in everything else. Maybe those people were a bit anal, or maybe I'm to lenient. Either way, THIS SET IS AWESOME! With that said let's get to the basic of the DVD. Each DVD holds 8 or 9 episodes each. I wasn't really counting. Each episode is one chapter, and consists of the opening, first half, eye catch, last half, next episode preview, then credits. All episodes have that. Opening and ending song are sometimes subbed, but not always. They got lazy there. But the English lyrics they wrote are awesome for the songs. Same with the next episode previews are sometimes subbed Something I should mention is the first two episodes. They are combined into one episode. I don't know when the Japanese went and did this, but it's not the HK's doing. Episode one and two are combine dinto a special. This special has a different eye catch, opening, and closing. The eye catch even says Macross Special. Pretty wierd, but nothing was cut so it's fine. Pretty nifty, I think. So, yes folks, there is a Macross set out there that will not have you cringing from watching it. This is definetly a great alternative to those very expensive Animeigo sets. And this is Macross, people. One of the classic animes everyone should see. And for good reasons too.!
