Well this movie gave me a toothache. All gushy and such. I didnt really understand the whole tree thing, but maybe that was just me. So overall it wasnt bad, but I think it will be the only Ah my Goddess dvd that I buy.

All the names have been messed up, and even without mentioning that grand fault, the subtitles don't make the movie even a little bit understandable. It's all a great chaos of sentences that don't make any sense at all. I really regreted buying this version, believe me, although I adore its artwork.

the video wasn't too bad there was some pixelation in certain parts and it was darker overall then the r1 version but it was ok if u can get past those two things

audio was good no problems but it was a little bit too quiet when characters were speaking and speical effects noises fighting etc were too loud but quality was good

now the subs were horrible bad grammer and the names were totally misspelled and sometimes the timing was off in some places

If u want a perfect movie,buy the R1. Everything looks okay if u watch the movie in chinese or no subtitles. Punish yourself by reading the english sub.(If u insist)

When I purchased this DVD it was not yet available in the USA, so I was very happy that I was able to watch it at the time, but once Pioneer released it I jumped at the domestic release because the quality of this DVD was so low. Video 3/5: I found the picture to be a little to dark, and there was some pixelation. Sound 4/5: Sound was pretty clear, I had no problems with it. Subtitles 2/5: Almost the worst I've ever seen, names where all messed up (Belldandy=Pudydady, Keiichi=Ying, Celestine=Midfox). Also the story is very hard to make out and you'll be more guessing according to the action going on on you TV, than relying on the subtitles. Overall 3/5: Not the worst, but you'll be better of buying the Pioneer release.

video -- very good audio -- godd+bad -- it's a bad done DTS-ripp, so characters are speaking silent OR the music/effects will crash your windows subs -- all names are wrong, Belldandy is named §""§$&"§$ RESULT: this very fine movie looses much by the sound/subs-problems

If you decide to buy this DVD make sure you either speak japanese or read chinese. This is the worst subtitling I ever had to read.This is probably because it has be subtitled in English according to the chinese subtitles. Meaning names like the original Belldandy apearing like Puyedaty,what the heck is this i said when i first realised.Apart from that you can realise that the translation is really poor creating problems with the complex storyline of the movie. Conclusion you would be better of buying the original region2 oh my goddess the movie created by "pioneer".
