A++ picture quality. Aspect ratio is 16:9 anamorphic (4:3 compatible).

Audio:

Sounds absolutely great. Ok, while the R2 counterpart features stereo sound, DD 5.1 and DTS, MAC´s version only has stereo and DTS but hey, that´s totally sufficient for this kind of movie.

Subtitle:

It features the original subtitles in japanese, english and french. That´s correct : no chinese subs (weird, but well..). English ones are perfect.

Comment:

It´s a direct rip of the japanese R2-version; MAC just left out the extras and the Dolby Digital sound option. Overall, I´m very happy with this title since I only had an older copy of the R2-dvd on tape; the real thing was just too expensive. Safe buy!

I notices abselutely no problems, those ghibliMACs are just great

Audio:

Flawless 5.1 DTS

Subtitle:

Flawless and even some nice translations.

Comment:

Without doubt a crazy movie. It's drawn very childish and i tought it would be for childeren but its a movie for all ages. The movie hasn't a base storyline, stuff just seem to happen and a lot of funny stuff to. Its just that nice sunday-afternoon-movie. If you like Ghibli, you'll like this one.

As said before, perfect R2 rip.

Audio:

Perfect. Also includes 5.1, but since I don't have the equipment I only listened to the stereo track.

Subtitle:

Also perfect. Only minor thing was that in some lines the last pixels of the last character seemed to miss. Probably was the same on the R2. Also includes Japanese and French subtitles.

Comment:

As said before, this isn't like the other Ghibli movies. No real story, just scenes from the Yamada's family life. And the artwork also differs much from other Ghibli movies. More "cartoonish" and reduced, in a kind of water-color style. All in all this is like some very refined version of "Crayon Shin Chan". And although it lacks the typical Ghibli-magic, it's still very amusing. Recommended!

Great, DVD Rip from R2 Gilbhi's Release. Widescreeen.

Audio:

No problems.Also includes DTS sound.

Subtitle:

Great English Subtitles, ripped from the Gilbhi set, everything is translated, well timed,no grammar erros.

Comment:

The menus are also ripped from the Gilbhi Set. Basically if you like the movie, buy it...It's that simple ...you will not find any problem with this set ...it's pratically(?) flawless.

Absolutely perfect!
100% R2 DVD ripp.

Audio:

Again perfect!
Also features DTS 5.1

Subtitle:

Yet again 100% spot on, again ripped straight off the DVD, even has "sony labs japan" credits at the end of the movie !

Comment:

This is everything a HK release should be 100% perfect, even the DVD cover was basically exactly the same as the Japanese release.

I love this film ! Not your average Ghibli release, but anyone that's a fan of Takahata's work will surely be into it. Yamada's was originally a newspaper manga strip, so the film is kinda like a big collection of short "strips" on life in the Yamada household. Highly enjoyable.

Excellent, perfect R2 rip. Anamorphic widescreen . Picture is sharp and well define. Lots of light and pastel colours in the movie

Audio:

Had DTS!! Too bad it wasn't needed, not much action in this movie

Subtitle:

Perfect. Has english and french subs and they were both perfect. Grammar was excellent and I don't remember one spelling mistake or timing problem in both languages. Must have been ripped from R2 version (why else would there french subs?)

Comment:

Finally had the time to watch the movie and everything is great. One extra note, an insane amount of chapter breaks, 80+ in total. Video: 5/5 Excellent, perfect R2 rip. Nice pastel colours, very clear and sharp. True Anamorphic widescreen. Audio: 5/5 Excellent, has DTS but it's not needed, not much sound effects in this movie. Subtitles - English: 5/5 Perfect Subs. I though the font was a bit on the small side but it was still easy to read. Also had french subtitles, I checked them out once in a while and I could see they were also perfect. This is a Perfect release by MAC, I couldn't find anything wrong with the DVD and it's quality surpasses alot of official R1 DVDs This ain't your average Ghibli movie. It revolves around the Yamadas and is composed of short clips of everyday life and situations. Entertaining but action freaks might wanna stay clear.

Video/Audio: These are both the highest quality I've seen yet from a HK DVD. The video is crisp and preserves subtle colour gradations. The audio is available in 2.1, 5.1, and another setting I didn't check. Subs: These are incredible subs as well. Perfect timing, spelling, and translations that preserve the humour in the story. Content: This movie is a bit "artsy" and there isn't any "plot" that ties the whole thing together. It's a collection of (many) shorts of the Yamada family who are basically pretty stupid and petty people. It feels like I've OD'd on Sunday Funnies after watching this movie. Basically entertaining and well done but not my first pick to watch from Studio Ghibli.
