This is one of the worst sets I have purchased so far, luckily I got it for $22 off of eBay. It's a shame since this is such a good series(even though it's almost a Yu Yu rip off, heh) Video quality- Pretty terrible..... Heavy pixelization, washed out colors, glitches and numerous other problems plauge the video on this release. It gets pretty ugly at times... Audio quality- Not too bad really, I would say just average 2 channel sound overall. subs- The subs are OK. There are quite a few mis-spellings, but at least they get all the names right. DVD #4 has a serious timing glitch/problem early on though and it throws off the subs for the rest of the DVD. That was VERY annoying. Overall this is one of the worst HK DVD sets I have purchased so far, if I didn't get it so cheap i'd probably be mad, heheh.

I can't argue that these will occur on all sets, but mine had enough problems for me to sell it and buy the MI one instead. The drop in video quality due to it being on 4 discs was more apparent during the opening songs. There was so much pixelation, that the sequences were nearly unrecognizable. The audio sounds weird, kind of hollow/ echo-like. I heard alot of times that it's better to watch it in mono if this happens, or to switch off the rear speaker with surround systems. Subtitles were the main reason I got rid of it. If it was only the one second lag that people had mentioned I wouldn't have minded. However, halfway through the last disc the subtitles were a good few seconds out of sync. It was almost impossible to match it with what was going on onscreen. Since the MI version dosen't have the subbing problem, I'd recommend it over this defect.

I wouldn't buy this set. Go read my review for the AC/MI set. Reason being? The last few epsidoes (6-10 of them) are missing. They never made it to the dvds. Heh, so doesn't it suck to get 90% into a series, to find out you will never learn how it ends? OVERALL: Don't buy this set!

Hmmm, somebody gave this set a 5 for the video. I have to totaly disagree. The video of Flame of Recca is not good. There is some heavy pixelation, especially in the intro. In normal scenes it looks ok. This is probably due to a very low bitrate. The audio is nothing major either. Not bad or anything but it seems that the audio comes from only 1 channel. If this turns out to be wrong I'll be sure to edit that later today. The subtitles are quite good on this set. Some spelling error but other then that it's pretty good. The only thing I found a little bit disappointing is that on disc 1-3 the subs appear just slightly too late. It's not really a bad lag but enough to notice it. I spot checked the 4th disc and it seems they corrected this lag on the last disc. All the openings and endings were kept intact on this set. Also, some episodes might seem "missing" because they don't appear in the chapter selection menu. This goes for the 2nd and 3rd disc. On a computer you can select the "hidden" chapters easily and on a stand alone dvd player you have to play the last chapter in the chapter selection menu and then press next chapter. I haven't finished watching this set so if I come across anything I will post it here.
