Video:
The video is actually pretty impressive for an older series like this. The colour saturation is decent with good detail in the shadow areas and no noticeable pixellation during action scenes. You'd almost think this was an R1 release.
Audio:
The original sound for this show was done in mono so even though you're watching on your spiffy dolby 5.1 surround system, you're still only going to get basic sound. That said, the sound quality is very nice. Good levels without any hiss or funky noises to distract from your enjoyment of this set.

Comment:
This is a rip of the As set. You can tell because of the big AS splash screen that comes up at the start of the video. If you're looking for some classic 80s action in space, then this is a great series for you to pick up. It's got all the elements in it that got me into anime in the first place. You've got a strange loner who gets brought in by a rag tag bunch that just don't fit in with the establishment. You've got strange aliens that want to destroy humanity as we know it. You've got humans trying to help the aliens. Best of all, you get big fight scenes on a regular basis. One final note, you can find a set with seven discs instead of the five that this set has. Don't waste your money on the extra two disc set. The video wasn't remastered in any way and actually has the same bit rate that this five disc set has. Save your cash and get this set if you're looking to enjoy a classic series.

The video was not too bad and not grainy in any way. Had gotten a giggle as the video animation logo popped up before the menu appeared. The audio was quite good. No problems noted. The subs suffered from engrish here and there (nothing major and it was understandable). A couple of instances occurred when the character's name changed.
