ok here is a review by memory mac set video 4 all around some out of place frames. pixelation durring some sceen transitions. note: the bars on princess mononoke are grey durring my normal tv setting. oh yeah little blue moon as water mark sound 5 not a sound buff sounded great trough my sterio tv. subs differ from movie to movie ponpoko bad lag cant tell who is speaking when more then one person. laputa subs where a too quick . it was too good a movie to be bothered much by it. nausicaa vally of the winds subs started slightly after the speaker started speaking another note my player had problems reading parts of kiki and could not read the last 10 min of chapter 2 in only yesterday. i did not watch enough of mononoke to coment on it. movie not yet seen: most of mononoke content rating Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind 4 mononoke 5 only yesterday 3.5 Laputa:Castle in the Sky 4 Kiki's Delivery Service 4 Whisper of the Heart 5 porco rosso 4 pon poko .5 it really sucked Umiga kikoeru 5 totoro 5 grave of the fireflies 4 yep its not a great over all review but hey it was worth the 36$$ i paid hell it would have been worth it just so i wouldn't have to listen to that annoying guy they got for the cat in the english version of kiki damn i hate that guys voice

Everything was good except in Kiki's delivery service, halfway thourgh the film, audio and video skipped alot, lots of pixelation, it was pretty much unwatchable. Lasted for around 20 minutes and then everything was fine. Don't know if this was only on my set or if all MAC Ghibli's have the same problem. EDIT: KIki works fine on my new dvd rom Video : 4/5 Pretty good when you consider there are 3 movies per dvd. Minor pixelation during action and darker scenes because of low bit rate. Video was sharp and clear and colours were nice and bright except on the older films. Audio : 4/5 Nothing special but nothing bad either. All movies were in 2.0 stereo. Subtitles : 4/5 For the most part very good. Engrish free and not to many spelling and typo mistakes. I noticed some dropped lines but nothing major. Pon Poko had timing problems but it wasn't so bad. Only got confused if lots of different people speak one after another. Laputa also had timing problems. Content : Studio Ghibli, Miyazaki, Takahata, enough said

This is a box set that all anime lovers should have. Hayao Miyazaki , called the Walt Disney of Japanese Animation, creates worlds with wonderful landscapes, colorful characters and interesting stories. And twelve full length (90-120 mins each) movies for this price is unbeatable. As for ratings, the video trasfer is top notch. It's hard to go wrong with basic 2-d Animation The audio is average. A little grainy on the high range sound effects. The subtitles are averate but pretty funny. You get the gist of it but sometimes they're a little fast ( I had to pause and play a few times just to read some dialouge) and also the wording is just plain halarious. But that is what you get when Chinese people translate Japanese into English. Over all it's a must have and worth while to add to any collection. edited by walkingcrowe on 31 Oct 2002 10:48 am
