Nothing has ever been more beautiful in an anime. Video greatness that competes with Cowboy Bebop.
Audio:
The voices were sometimes lower in volume that the music, making me turn up the volume to a really loud setting. Also, there are two English tracks: English DTS English 5.1 The English DTS has no sound what-so-ever. I suppose it's so that if you find a Japanese track, you can easily listen to it. But alas, there are no English subtitles. But, the English 5.1, as said before, drowns the speech of characters.
Subtitle:
Japanese and Chinese are the available subtitles. Since I read neither of these, I cannot really rate them, but I give it a four for alteast being there.
Comment:
Weird movie with possible the most unoriginal story, but some how, it all works out.

the video is as crisp and clear as you're gonna to get, beautiful.
Audio:
as some characters are quite softly spoken, any sound anomilies would be very evident but thankfully there are none.

I was slightly miffed when I discovered that there was no Japanese dub, I'm still really curious to know what it sounds like but although the english dub was descent enough at times I found it a little...cheesy but for the most part they did a bang up job. A Japanese dub really would have been nice though, I'd choose sub over dub any day........well almost ^_^
Comment:
overall it's a fantastic buy, I was really pleased with it. It's the the most opulent and beautiful anime I've ever seen, it really is a masterpiece and such an improvement on the 80's original but that's expected. Although I love the original dearly, the story and pace are superior and the character designs superb, you definitely won't be disoppointed, it really is unique.

This is a rip from the R2 DVD. What is there to say? The entire video aspect of this title is clean with near enough zero compression problems of other such video issues. Apart from a couple of minor bluring issues and it is literally once or twice that it happens, the video on this title is superb.
Audio:
This has a DTS track. Yup you read that right, and on my friend's sound system (mine sucks big time), this title sounds absolutely awesome. Everything that you hear is crisp and clear without any kind of background hiss or other such audio annoyances. I just wish more anime DVD's, whether it's the R1's or R2's that are subsequently ripped by HK companies, would contain a DTS track since it sounds a heckuva lot better than bog-standard Dobly Digital. Great stuff.

Being aimed for the American/Western auidence predominantly, Vampre Hunter D: Bloodlust only ever featured an english dub without any kind of Japanese track. While this is good if you're a dub fiend (such as myself,) others might feel somewhat short changed by the fact that there are no English subs (hence my rating) and as such won't be able to hear their favourite Japanese seiyuu, doing the voice overs. Personally this really isn't an issue since the dub is so competent, that I doubt I would watch the title with the Japanese track even if one was on this disc.
Comment:
The bottom line is quite simply this. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is one of the finest fantasy action animes that money can buy today. With character designs from the god of Ninja Scroll himself, Yoshihaki Kawajiri, the characters in this anime are both immediately satistfying to watch and in great Kawajiri tradition, engage in many cool and well animated battles. This is simply the finest Vampire Hunter D title to date (not hard considering there's only two of them - but hey humor me ok? =o)) and one of the very best action titles that anime can offer. Stunning animation and oil-painting esque art are simply the icing on the cake of this excelllent anime. MAC have done a great job with this rip. Anybody who does not have this anime, should go RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND and order it, for the price, you would be the king of fools to miss out. The highest recommendation.

Video: 4.5/5 For the most part excellent, R2 rip. The picture gets messed up near the end but only for a couple of seconds. It's in anamorphic widescreen Audio: 4.9/5 DTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounded great on my HTS, clear and sharp with good seperation. It would have gotten a perfect score if not for a couple of "pops" close to the end (I've seen worst on R1s ) Subtitles: NA English only dub, supposedly there is no japanese dub and it was recorded in english first ( it was explained at the end of the movie during the special features but I never watch those anyways.

Subtitle:
This movie was originally recorded in English so there is no need for English subtitles here. The Japanese subtitles are present if you really want to read along. The only part that could have used subtitles was the bonus features with the making of and other stuff. All of this is in spoken Japanese only.
Comment:
This is some of the slickest, most original animation I've seen in a while. Way better than the original Vampire Hunter D in terms of animation, pacing, sound placement, and story. I rate this video as a must have for any anime collection just because it is so well done. If you have ever enjoyed ANY action movies of any sort, then you should watch this even if you don't like the whole "vampire" thing.
