Overall:
Video:
Video is clear, but not up to DVD quality -- some graininess and minor pixellation (used a standard 21" TV). Also, the "Anime Studio" logo pops up occasionally, generally twice per episode -- after the opening credits and again following the commercial bumpers (eyecatches). Probably a rip from a LD or VHS, as the episodes include a legal (or health?) warning at the start, and a plug for a videogame or soundtrack at the end. During the last episode, there was a gap of several seconds between two eyecatches, with some videotape glitching -- apparently, that episode was taken from some sort of TV station master, or something.
Audio:
Very clear, with no glitches. I've watched this DVD (like all others on a standard TV), so I haven't heard any defects.
Subtitle:
Standard "engrish", though very comprehensible. Some occasional timing errors, with some misspellings and overruns. Of note": Belldandy spelled "Beldandi" in the first episode (correct in all others), and general laziness in the 3rd episode's race scene, where most of the announcer's lines were either unsubbed or given the general "Announcer Introduces tThe Racers" (or something like that). Next episode previews subbed, but not the songs. Pleasant yellow helvetica font.
Comment:
Great DVD, even though the on-screen AS logo bugs me a bit. Worth checking out if you're on the cheap; otherwise, I prefer the official Animeigo R1/2/4 version.
