The video and sound were good, but the subtitling was bad. The translation was okay for most of the episodes. The names were all wrong. There was poor english, grammer mistakes, typos, etc... But there were a few times when the same subs were on the screen for 1 minute of talking. The second half of episode 7 had chinese subs only. The actual content of the OVA was really good. The last episode ended at a good stopping point, but I really hope there is more to this captivating storyline. I was one of the unlucky ones who had to get this set twice. The first time I purchased the set I only received 4 episodes (and the fourth episode is a major cliff hanger...I was so annoyed). Since the same company did the 4 part and the eight part set the only difference (since the price was the same) is that the 8 part OVA has black on the side and the bottom of the cover. Since the price is so cheap I sugget getting this set, but be aware that the subs are really annoying at a few critical points (If possible get this set for a different company).

Video - 4.5/5 Here we go. Basically, the video was excellent. The only flaw I saw was a couple of grey lines at the top of the video which become nearly impossible to notice if your even remotely watching the show. The bitrate was definitely adequate enough for the video so there wasn't any pixelation that I could see. Sometimes their was some panning flickering, which wasn't very prominent or anything, but I thought I'd mention it. Audio - 4.5/5 Umm.. audio is my weak point, but there was a small amount of hiss I believe, but either it went away or I stopped noticing after the first 10 minutes or so. In either case, there wasn't much hiss. There wasn't any popping that I noticed either so that's a big plus. Subtitles - 3/5 Generally the subs were quite understandable, but there were times when people were explaining complicated stuff and the translations just couldn't cover it. Once again, the subbers managed to mess up every name (maybe they got one right, but not that I could find). Many times they put what the names meant instead of the actual name which gets really annoying. For example: Kirua became "Strange". ?????? What's up with that? Well, I don't know Japanese but I'm assuming that's the translation. Well, enough about names. There was some engrish, grammer mistakes, and spelling errors as usual. Oh ya, during the last few minutes of the 7th episode, the chinese subs replaced the english subs till the end of the episode. Well, I guess that covers the subs. DVD Menus - 3.5/5 The menus were pretty nice lookin. Their wasn't any background music, and there weren't any animations either. Also, the SUBTITLES menu and the CHAPTERS menu weren't in english. The art was very nice though. Afterthoughts Ok, I'm a HUGE fan of this series. I thought this was pretty good as an OVA, but it had better not be the end of the series. There's still so much stuff left to cover like getting Greed Island, finding Gon's father, and what the hell does that ring do that Gon and Kirua found in the box. *sigh* oh well, someday. If not, there's always the manga, but right now the english translations of the manga are just starting on the OVA series. Oops. I've been rambling. This is a must have for any serious Hunter x Hunter fan. GO AND GET IT NOW. Hope you liked reading my review.
