Reviews for Trigun Perfect Collection

While this series is very good the video is average numerous times of weird picture I don?t know if its pixelation or something else and it?s quite brief so it?s fine.

Audio:

The audio was fine as usual no problems in this category.

Subtitle:

The subs appeared to be fine to me so there nothing to note here just done like the others.

Comment:

It took me a while to watch this set despite the fact that I really like this show because CN kept showing it but overall it?s pretty good and defiantly worth checking out. The series is pretty funny and Vash is such an idiot at times that its hilarious.

I am surprised no one really "dinged" this release for the video. I almost felt as if I am reviewing the wrong version but I'm not. What makes the video a 3.5? There is a lot of "blocking" and squares that appear whenever there is a lot of high-action/moving sequences and because this is a "western" kind of shoot-out show, there are many gunfights, and many high movement scenes. There was a lot of blocking. On the darker colors of people's shirts, hair, etc; you could noticibly see blocking. There was just too much of it. Of all the HK dvds I have, this is by far the worst video quality of the ones I have. To be a little more positive, besides all those "blocks" that will appear on your screen, you can easily watch the show and see everything just fine. It shouldn't really distract you and never gets the point where you wonder "what is that". It's not that bad in the long run, but it is still there and it's there a lot. 3.5 - =/

Audio:

I didn't have any problems with the audio on this release. I could hear every gunshot, laugh, and meow of that black cat in every episode. No problems here =)

Subtitle:

Didn't use subtitles, cannot score this.

Comment:

I was dissapointed with the video quality, but it was still a good release. Some great cover art on the gatefold, very nice menus, and even some extras were included. This show was very good and it had a very neat plot and even a few twists here and there. This one will be no stranger to my dvd in the future as I cannot wait to start watching the series again. "Meow!" TV used to watch this show: 27' Inch Flat Screen TV. DVD Player: Xbox

The video is clean, and crisp. Way better than watching it on Cartoon Network. The animation is just amazing, even when scenes are full of action, and explosions detail never drops.

Audio:

The music in the Trigun series is just amazing. After watching the series through I bought both the First Donoughts and Spicy Stewed Donoughts soundtracks for this series. The sound effects are realistic, and in great quality.

Subtitle:

The subtittles were average. Some words were different than audio, but mostly on slang words or words that described feelings.

Comment:

After scouring the internet for the complete Trigun series I had about given up. A friend of mine was collecting the series disc by disc when i found this collection. After I showed the collection to him he sold the three discs he had already purchased, and used the money to by this collection. Trigun is an awesome series, with superb animation, sound, plot it is one of the most sought after series.

This series has almost everything. Action, Comedy, Little romance. this series will truly piss u off sometimes because it kills off some ppl that u don't wanna die. i have this problem where i really hate anime endings, because of some title who's goin to be unnamed ::cough evangelion cough:: well not only that, but alot of anime endings have left me crying wantin more. ::cough love hina cough::, but this is an ending i could live with. not saying it's the best though. it was good. however i wished they would've developed vash and that girls love interest thing. oh well, good on to much account. i suggest alot, so good.

The video on this set was mostly spot on. There's a little bit of pixel problems, but I noticed these mostly while playing on a PS2, my main DVD player revealed little to none of these. Episode 2, however, was very badly pixeled in some places, such as when the girls are pulling the bucket from the well. That was really the only episode I felt even had pixeling in it. There was also some problems later on with a bit of skipping in the opening animation, mostly on Disc 2. There was only one or two of these occurences however. Overall: Great stuff.

Audio:

Perfect audio. Not really much else to say. The opening theme is fantastic. There was one little thing I noticed throughout the English track, however, and that's some sound effects are off. I can only blame this on the originals though, since the voices and most of the sound effects match perfectly. It's usually only delayed for a split second and will hardly be noticed if you're not on the watch for such things.

Subtitle:

It got the point across, but there were the aforementioned name problems at times. Whoever this mysterious Dash is, perhaps he'll appear in some far off Trigun sequel? Will we ever discover who he is?

Comment:

Just a quick note about chapter breaks... On the later episodes of Disc One the chapter breaks seem to be a bit off...like when you skip the ending song it'll jump to the last 20 seconds of said song. The later discs seem to be okay though. And the menus are great! Took awhile to figure out how to get the other episodes on disc 2 though, since the menu where you choose like from Eps 1-4, 5-7, 8-9 is no longer there and was replaced by little white arrows in the corners of the screen. A very excellent set, and well worth it when you consider Trigun's MSRP is 200 dollars! Pick it up if you know what's good for you.

The video was great on the first and second discs, but on the third, it goes totally wrong! All pixelated and too sharp. Not a pretty sigh to look at. To make it more clear, I will describe further: On the third disc, on episode 24, you will start to notice major pixelation. It may just be me, but even when it was moving to go from Vash's feet to head, it pixelated. Other than that, it was great.

Not a problem. Audio never usually is.

The video quality was excellent most of the time, with some pixellation and blockiness in the action scenes. This was somewhat remedied when I played it on my Toshiba standalone DVD player instead of my PS2. Overall the video is a good R1 rip, but probably could have been slightly better if the extra features were removed.

Audio:

Pretty good audio here. Syncs up to the video 90% of the time, and is very crisp and clear. Even without 5.1, the audio in this series is excellent. Great music, too.

Subtitle:

Names were spelled properly, and the only minor flaw was that sometimes a word or two would be missed, but you could still figure out what the sentence was. Overall good subs.

Comment:

FX did an EXCELLENT job with the quality of this boxset. Nice art when you first open it, and the discs look very nice, with the metallic Trigun logo on them. Definately one of the better looking boxsets available.

The video quality, for the most part, was great. Scenes with little to no action looked very crisp and clear. My major complaint comes from high-action content scenes, especially in the later discs (2,3). There was quite a bit of pixelation and macro-blocking - enough for me to notice watching it on a 21" TV. I fear that if I had viewed this title on a HDTV or high quality computer monitor it would've been worse.

Audio:

Great sound, although there was no 5.1 option. The music for Trigun is great.

Subtitle:

Aside from a missed line every now and then, great! I must've gotten the remastered set since I did not once notice #NAME or Vash spelled as Dash. Judging from having watched a friend's DVD seems like a direct R1 rip of the subtitles.

Comment:

Good R1 rip. Maybe if it had been spread out onto 4 discs the video quality would have been better, but I really can't complain since only a few action sequences had any noticable defects. I enjoyed this series to the very end.

The video on this set was good. I am pretty picky about video quality and this one didn't bother me too much. Yes there is pixelation, but it is very minor and the images still remain intact.

Audio:

Good audio. It sounded great in my stereo setup.

Subtitle:

The subs were very good. There were maybe 3-4 missing lines throughout the whole set, but the dub filled me in on what I had missed. Also there would pop up a random "#NAME?" in the subtitles which probably was some error that got overlooked. That happened also 3-4 times. BUT... I have seen that this set has been 'remastered' and that the subtitle problems are corrected. My set was purchased before the remastering.

Comment:

A good FX set. The set had no extras. At the end of the last episode it does have a creditless opening and closing. This is a great series. I wasn't sure about it at the start, but it has a way of starting out light and funny and then slowly transitioning to a dark and serious anime. All the while sucking you in deeper and deeper into the story. A true gem of an anime. This set is highly recommended.

Great. Some pixelation on 3 occasions but most hk have it with extreme scenes unless you have a progressive scan dvd player which corrects it most of the time. One thing to note, if you have a flat screen tv or a progressive scan dvd player the colors may flicker. I noticed this on my tv but my dad's which is a normal tv and dvd player didn't have this problem. The only color that really flickered when it happened was just the red of vash's coat which went from the normal color to darker color semi-rapidly.

Audio:

Another soft audio hk dvd. Why can't we get 5.1 dolby digital. Pro-logic not the same folks, basically hi-fi stero sound.

Well ... this is strange indeed...it's like they retyped the R1 subtitles, but with a couple of mistakes...once in a while there are a couple of spelling mistakes, stange symbols appear like "#Name", and sometimes they forgot to put space bettween words. , But you will have no problem ubnderstanding it . The Timing is great and everything seems to be subtitled.

Well this release has very good Audio /Video. The subtitles are good also, but are not "Perfect" . The subtitles are the only thing thing preventing this from being a "Perfect Edition". Video - 4.95/5 Okie dokie. A good R1 rip . Video is almost perfect durant all the series, with no noises, no pixelations, no bleeding, and nothing strange. Some of you wll be asking now "Hey, if it's so perfect, why do you give it a 4.95 instead of a 5? :(? Well, the answer is pretty simple: there're missing frames. I know, missing frames are pretty unavoidable, but they're still pretty bothersome. Audio - 5/5 I couldn't find a flaw on the audio. Just perfect. I'm hearing the japanese dialogs, though, because I don't like a bit the english seiyuu. Subs - 4.5/5 The subs are strange. They're obviously copied from the original subs, because the dialogs and even the jokes are identical on the R1s and on this release, but there's a pretty bunch of typos and misspellings (You will get used to see people calling Vash Dash, for example). But pretty watchable anyways. There's not Kare Kano Turbo Subs (Trademark :D) Overall (not an average) - 4.75/5 At first, I didn't like Trigun. I watched the last episodes on TV, and I thought it was pretty dramatic, with no sense of humor at all, and I like to have a good laugh sometimes with my favourite series. But I started to watch Trigun from the beggining, and I loved it. Vash is a real jerk and the first 15 or 16 episodes are really hilarious. There's a point when Trigun changes and transforms into a real drama, rivaling with Cowboy Bebop, but before that, Trigun is funny, full of action, with a bit of love and full of busty ladies and stout dudes with big guns :D

Video- damn near perfect. Only problems were some pixelization in darker scenes and also there was not much definition in darker scenes. Only other vid problems were an occassional flicker of the screen that lasted less than a second. Sound- perfect, not a problem at all. Subs- Occassional typo but great. This was a great series for a great price. I preferred the dub over the subs. I actually watched english dub with the subs for a while and the dub just seemed to make the characters be more alive. The main point of the dialogue would be there in the subs but the dub added more personality.

Yes, as stated the audio and video are perfect Region 1 rips. However, I must add that there are a tiny amount of typos here and there in most of the episodes. I know the subtitles are from the Region 1 script but there are a few typos (which were not present in the Region 1 version). For example, there are a few times through the series where his name is spelled "dash the Stampede". Or where there is no space between 2 words. For example "dothat" (do that). Every single line is still understandable. So in conclusion: Video: 5 Audio: 5 Subtitles: 4.8

Trigun Perfect Collection Review Video: 5/5 Florachan did an excellent job with this. The video quality is exactly like the R1s. No joke. Audio: 5/5 Fine with me. Subtitles: 5/5 The subs are an R1 rip so they are great. Package Design: 4.5/5 The package design is really nice. When you first open it up, on the left is an episode list!! Yay! and on the rest is some really nice artwork that is not in the R1s (Except for the artwork on Disc 1/2). My only problem this time was the text on the episode list and back was digital (clock text). Content: 5/5 Trigun Kicks ass. Period. This set is awesome, I think Florachan had to sacrafice the extras that the R1s had for better video quality. A great set!!!!
