Video:

I think this is a laser disc rip, the video is pretty good 98% ot the time. The colors are very good, very little if any macroblocking. Just a little smearing but you have to be looking for it to notice.

Audio:

I found out that this is encoded in ac3 5.1, no kidding! The volume seems to very good, no buzzing or distortion that I could detect. The 6th disc with the ova's is just 2 channel stereo though.

Subtitle:

For the 5 discs that have the tv series episodes, very good (subtitled by fans for fans-not for sale) and all. Just some run in on words and mistimed lines. The 6th disc is another matter, your typical engrish subs, but still serviceable.

Comment:

I loved Maison Ikkoku and this series reminds me so much of it right down to the art style. I gotta say though Kyosuke and his telekenetic powers seemed to be a little gimmicky at times while Ayukawa reminded me of a tougher version of a MI leading lady. All in all highly recommended.

Video:

Not sure if this is a LD/VCD/VHS transfer, but the image itself is somewhat lacking, and the edges are blurred. Certainly not the greatest, but it IS an old show. However, my Touch DVD's are better than these in terms of video.

Audio:

Again, due to the transfer source and age, probably not much they could do. Don't expect surround sound now =P

Subtitle:

Fansubs! What's funny is that they even left in the "Subtitled by Fans for Fans - Not for Sale or Rent!" message in even when it is apparent that they had someone manually type up the subs from a fansub source. While not perfect, and many episode title subs are missing, it is not Engrish so I cannot complain.

great set. the bad side is the last dvd of the set which doesn't include nor the movie nor the music special, but only the 2 first OAVs.
