What can be said about Bubblegum Crisis that has not been said before. An excellent series all in all. The quality of this HK dvd is not far behind. Video- 5/5 The only problems I noticed was one milisecond of high pixalation around the begining of Hurricane 2032 and this one milisecond wave effect on Hurricane 2032, but other than that a perfect rip all the way. For being made in the 80s it is definitely high quality. This is about as good as HK DVD can get. Audio- 4/5 The audio is almost perfect, almost. The one thing that keeps it from getting a 5/5 is the fact that episode 6- Red Eyes does not have an english dub at all, even though the other 7 do. So if you are a dubophile which I am not personally, you might want to stay away from this set and buy the R1s. I also noticed that the audio on the live performances on Hurricane 2033 was off from the performers mouth movements. I am not sure if this is an error in matching the audio with the video, or that the singers are bad at lip-synching. It did not bother me at all personally, since I did not care about the performances as much as I liked the music being shown with the animation clips. You might feel differently. Subtitles- 4/5 The subtitles are all there, ripped from the animeigo originals. There are a some minor misspellings which do not hurt the understanding at all. The main problem is the timing of the subs. They are many times way too fast or show up too early. Some might be angry that the songs are not subtitled, which I figured for an HK dvd was an acceptable thing. What is funny though is that at this one moment on an early episode for a few lines, they actually added some of the lyrics with what people were saying. Once you figured it out it was easy to tell what the people were saying. This only happens about twice on the first disc. If you do not mind rewinding and fast forwarding your disc quite a few times to tell what people are saying and you realize the timing problem, the subtitles should be satisfactory. If you want perfection and/or you prefer the dubbed version, I would suggest getting the R1s. But if you want a great series for a reasonable price with excellent video and audio, and good subs to back it up, I would definitely advise you to get this set. This is quality as far as HK DVD is concerned
