Comment:
Well here we are with a short 6 episode OVA continuation of Tekkaman Blade here. AV decided to rip the US R1 release by Urban Visions. Expect perfect video, audio, and subs? Think again! Video: Excellent, very good masters it looks like and the picture holds up well for most part. Some minor pixelation in a few areas but almost none here. Its a very good picture. Being a rip of the R1 though it is kinda dissapointing to see that it has the overlays that were used on the R1 to cover up the Kanji in the shows opening. No biggie, but it is ugly. Audio: Contains both a 5.1 english track which sounded way to loud to me, and the original 2.0 Japanese track. No problems really here, of course unless you count in that the dub sucks the big hard one..... but I guess no one cares :) Subs: Well this is where they screwed up. Seen the R1 before and it had no problems. It looks like they "recreated" the subs here. For the first 3 episodes the subs run sometimes a little to far ahead, and sometimes a whole second before the dialogue. Got real annoying. The subs are perfect english, there was like 2 spelling errors. Also there are two instances where the subs flash across the screen to fast to be read. Whoever timed these episodes must have started the subs to early or something as it consistently plays faster than the dialogue. In the final 3 episodes this is fixed though. Personally I would recommend going out and spending an extra $7 more and get the R1 which fixes that little problem. If you like Tekkman blade you will enjoy this. More of a straight foward action romp this time, but a good one. And its always good to see the old cast back in action.
